Hello,

I'm new on here. I'm not from the UK, but my bike is! Sadly, it suffered catastrophic mechanical failure a couple years ago. I've finally built up the confidence to dive into it and begin the repair process. I've been chronicling the project here:

https://speedtripleproject.blogspot.com/

If you've exhausted every other form of entertainment, give it a read.

I'm happy to be on here. Thanks!

For anyone interested in how effective Spaten Optimator is as a degreaser, I've posted my usual Wednesday update.

Good stuff laughed at this.

Was my blinker on? I don't know. Even if it was, it would have been barely visible being covered in a layer of neglect and tucked neatly out of sight. I think I put my arm up to signal, but it may have been a halfhearted wave. Either way, I began my right turn into the gas station when a rider from behind closed on me like a jet, slamming into the side of my bike and sending appendages flying through the air. The resulting fireball quickly spread to the fuel depot and ignited the pumps. I was lucky to be pulled clear from the flames and quickly extinguished. Just before I lost consciousness, I heard an explosion and saw the shock wave effortlessly toss people and bikes into the air and down the street. The faint wail of sirens and screaming were the last things audible before it all went dark...

Not really.

I'm guessing you will not be forgetting circlips again anytime soon. Smile

The often used but sometimes overlooked kickstand is the subject of this week's post.

Damn. You could have fooled me, your use of the English language is better than most on here, myself included. I take it you live in the Flanders region? It's an enjoyable read, keep it up.

I can think of only one thing more boring than cleaning the grease off of old bike parts and that is taking the time to read about it. You've been warned.

Did you get the rear linkage spindle out in the end? I had trouble getting one out on my old Sprint ST - I had a wheel bolt that fit into the spindle (M14 fine thread?) welded onto a slide hammer, and hammered it out that way. Took about a minute to get out Thumbs Up

It's funny you say that. My buddy just got a new slide hammer that we put to good use last night.
