Not much to write about yet as i've only just had the thing delivered. Bit of a cleanup and general tidyup ready for next spring.

The basics?

1999 VFR800FI in Italian faded red. Full Service History and a very recent big service. Had all its seals and clearances etc done. New oil and filter, fresh filters and a clean tank of fuel.

Done -

Replaced the rotten downpipes for SS ones
Replaced the oil cooler hard lines for nice non corroded ones.

To be done

Clean up and spray the wheels.
Sort out the faded plastics either by respray or by fitting a set of rinkydinky chinese fakes.
Polish up and fit rear seat cowl.
Polish up and refit the hazed and faded screen.
Find a set of matching mirrors.
Sort out the dash issues either with new lamps or by doing some careful soldering of any burnt / corroded tracks on the instrument circuits.

Anyway pic of it nestled into its storage spot for the next few months whilst i work on it.

Nice project! Do have a bit of a soft spot for the old VFRs Thumbs Up

That's 'just a do' fit in there though eh? Shocked Looks like you built the garage around it! Laughing

How do you use the door though? Thinking

That's clean.

Didn't notice the rad was on the side like that before.

It has two - one on each side which is why it's best not to drop them if you can. If i keep it, i'll be fitting some decent mushrooms.

Had the front fairing off today. Wet sanded the screen and fairing, now both are shiny.

Also had the dash to bits and found the cause of no flashing hazard dash lights .... no lamps in the sockets Thumbs Up On the down side, the reason they'd been taken out is because they both flash at once. Thumbs Down I know the problem is either in the PCB or a duff earth somewhere so next time it all comes to bits i'll do some digging as well as some general earth cleaning.

Removed the nasty rear rack and fitted the rear cowl.

PCB faults all fixed. Indicators now flash on the correct side and the dash illumination all works as it should Smile

Fairings back on and the worst of the blemishes hidden with some replacement vinyl stickers. Ended up using number plate nuts and bolts for the bellypan part - had to trim the fairings a little to allow some room for the new downpipes.

Need to get some stainless fairing bolts to replace the corroded ones.

Also tightened up the rear manifold bolts ( utter utter UTTER bastard to get at ) which has sorted the last of the exhaust blow out.

That's pretty much it for now - will get the wheels cleaned up and probably powdercoated over the winter.
