I'm going doing the usual run tomorrow if the weather is decent, do you want me to knock on?

Did a little touch up on the tank repair with my sister's nail varnish Shhh! I've also touched up the lower fairing with some as well. It's turned out quite well. I'll be mock fitting the lower fairing tomorrow.

After:

And just another picture as I cleaned it a little today:

You are really getting somewhere with your bike. Very jealous of the price you paid for that front disk as I need a new one and don't want to stump up somewhere north of £130. My fuel tap lets fuel pass when the engine is off so i am just about to go and turn the tap 180 degrees so i can force it off and then give the old girl a wash - got to love these old TZR250s Cool .

Just did a test fitting of my lower fairings but it was a disaster. They simply do not fit. Nothing lines up.

Lines up at the top fairing on the left side:

https://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ms51ves3/DSCF1495.jpg

But not lining up at the top fairing on the right side:

https://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ms51ves3/DSCF1497.jpg

And not lining up at the frame on the left side:

https://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ms51ves3/DSCF1496.jpg

Or the right side:

https://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ms51ves3/DSCF1498.jpg

And if you do get the right side frame mount to line up, the exhaust touches the fairing at the bottom:

https://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ms51ves3/DSCF1501.jpg

The V piece is touching the exhausts too:

https://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ms51ves3/DSCF1499.jpg

Disaster:

https://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/ms51ves3/DSCF1500.jpg

I'm thinking part of the problem is probably because of the bent headlight bracket which I bent back. It may need some more bending Rolling Eyes

So the fairing is back in the place it's been for the past year: Behind me Thumbs Down

That's unlucky.

Do you plan keeping the front indy's?

Yes, do you have a problem with their size?

Think I've figured out why the lower fairings don't fit.

Can anybody else see the problem?

How did you get on???

Thanks for the pictures of the fairingless TZR. I have been trying to work out how close the TZR and FZR upper fairings are to matching each other, now i have some pictures to compare.

Cheers, Bob.

You wasted money on tape! You should solo key it like i've done with every bike i've owned the most i've had on a key ring is the little advert ribbon for the bike shop and my key for the ignition! Laughing

I have three keys though, one for my lock that slots behind the reg plate, one for the ignition and one for the seat. I can't be bothered having the other two on a different keyring, it would drive me mad having to find it in my pocket.

The tape was free for me anyway because my dad bought it Wink

Are they all the same Yamaha key?? make it one key.

https://www.yamahait.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,7172.0.html

Thought that might be of interest to a young fella like yourself whos up for having a go. You might need a few spare random yamaha lock barrels for the spare sprags.

Ive read through the whole thread and gone ive got the answer for that and then too late you have worked it out or someone has helped out. Good work.

PV issues sorted???
Undo the pulley off the cylinder end, take it off. That will tell you if its seized up in the cylinders or a cable or burnt out motor.

I bought myself these the other night, the pair $400

Maybe i win that game earlier in the thread??
RZ250 and an RG250.

RZ is a bit bent, one carb is seized up but im pretty sure it will run.
The RG has a busted kick starter shaft. Just bought one off eBay.
Not sure what i am doing yet. Ive got a Rolling 2KR FZR250 frame in the shed as well.

Cheers, Bob.

I've read this all the way through, what a thread. I'm loving the look of this 2T! Do you still have the bike?

Great looking bike Thumbs Up

Edit: Just realised I was trawling through old threads and commented on this one not knowing it's almost a year old :/. My bad.

I'm back working on the TZR. Sold my Blackbird a couple of weeks ago so I'm down to just this and the old Chaly now (which has not progressed at all, still engineless). I've decided to ride the TZR again because insurance is only £100 so I can't afford not to really.

At the moment I've got fuel leak issues from everything fuel related: carbs, fuel tap and tank. Probably going to get rebuild kits for the first two and then the tank I've just posted about in the workshop section.

Clicky

The hole has grown a bit Neutral

I've got a couple of days free in the next week but then I'm off to India for a month so updates will stop for a bit. Plan is to get it M.O.Ted late September before I head back to university.

Going to try and keep this thread alive with plenty of pictures so stay tuned.

On a non-bike note, could an admin move this thread to Show & Tell please? Never realised it was in this section.

Small update.

Carbs no longer leak after a quick clean. There was some dirt/rust between the needle and seat stopping it sealing properly.

Fuel tap has been dismantled, got a couple of O rings ordered that should fix it, otherwise I'll buy a full rebuild kit for £35.

Been working on the tank today. Ordered the POR-15 yesterday and it arrived this morning so I've cleaned out the tank, done the metal prep and patched the hole.

https://i.imgur.com/AfhHCuJl.jpg

It'll take 4 days for that to dry and in the meantime my tank will also be drying out from the clean. I'll do the sealing coat on Monday.

If I remember correctly from when there was a decent TZR forum, the rebuild kits don't kit. Was a few years ago so there might be useful ones out there now though.

All the best

Yeah, NRP now make their own with the correct 4 holed rubber washer rather than the 5 that came in all the other kits.
