Too much rain? It hasn't really been the best of summers, has it. I haven't done anything more than a 4 night camping trip myself, and that to nowhere new, because I couldn't see a forecast with more than a couple of days of at least dry weather together. I had planned on doing Cornwall and Devon this year, but even that failed to materialise. And Scotland has been on my mind too, but haven't bothered. All because of the weather.

And there was me, at the end of last year, saying roll on 2015 Rolling Eyes OK, roll on 2016, but this time I'm not so confident. At least by next summer, I should have whole areas on my doorstep that I haven't explored, so maybe the odd sunny days will be more interesting, even if I don't get a decent trip in again.

It hasn't been a completely wasted year though, for either of us. You've managed to squeeze in a couple of good, albeit shorter, trips in judging by some of your posts here. Plus of course, BCF BBQ, which makes up for a fair bit Smile

So yeah, roll on 2016 Laughing

The funny thing is, it's only since I started using bike forums, with threads about "where you been?", that I've started to get disappointed with myself if I haven't explored anywhere new. I'm not really a competitive kind of guy, but this thread, and similar on the Fazer Owners Club site have made me get a bit that way, or at least, competitive with myself, as I don't want to keep posting up pics of the same old places after I've been out. Whereas before I started using these forums regularly, I probably was more content to just do my favourite routes more often. Now, if I'm not exploring somewhere new, I'm not so happy.

Blast you, BCF and FOC-U, you're costing me a fortune! Laughing And there's still the Continent beckoning yet! Shocked

A week after the op to remove the metal plate and screws from my left foot, I decided to go for a ride. Took the fireblade to Boxhill.

No pain, but wary of damaging my wound, which I think has been super glued or something ...

Anyway, went to Rykas. Parked next to a Honda MSX 125 (Grom) in Repsol colours. I will have one of these to tool about on. Like a monkey bike, but much more practical.

True. I've been holding back my annual leave waiting for 4 decent days in Wales (like I had last year). So have not been having the odd Friday here / there as in previous years.
A bit OT, but I was late planting veg this year because the weekends were so crap through April.

Last year we had some rain during the week, but I always managed to luck out and get sunny weekends. Not this year. Nice days while at work, wet weekends.

So my little trips out on bikes numbered over the last few years:

2013 = 20
2014 = 17
2015 = 9

Says it all.

Not the end of the world, worse things happen at sea etc

Yorkshire Dales and back.

Started with 5 bikes. Clutch cable on one snapped before Brough so bodged that up and he went back home. Then a lad came off (same one I posted a video of the other week... and in the same friggin place too), then after getting going again with a suspected broken collar bone his clutch cable snapped about 10 miles down the road ffs Laughing 3 of us were heading home and my mates bike cut out, checked oil, none on the dipstick so he's still sat in Lanchester somewhere waiting for recovery. Have had better ride outs.

Rode to Ambleside on the Sunday for the tourist traps (bike parking is far between here and the lakes is a pit of bureaucracy and stuck up tossers so don't fancy taking chances and just sticking the bike down an alley).

Pricey place to go and the attitude of the 'locals' is fairly rush rush 'are you going to buy anything? No? then fek off!' but a nice place to go regardless.

Also bumped into a BCF'er on site Diddylord on his Tiger 800, nice meeting you fella Thumbs Up persuaded me to give one a test ride some time Smile

Brands Hatch for a track day taster.

I was one of the slowest but I didn't waste half the session by crashing and getting it red flagged (unlike someone).

Met up with Kris and did a raid over the border into Wales. I've posted plenty about my trips there, so will let Kris tell you all about it if he wants. I think he enjoyed it Smile

Epic mileage he must have done today by the time he gets home - mine, just 340 miles.

P.S. I'm on my 5th Fazer thou, and that's the first time I've ever scraped the pegs, despite always being able to lose the 'strips.

Good to see you got home safe. You must have been knackered! Not many would be up for that on just a day out for a spin, and on a sports bike too Karma

Wasn't on the motorbike, but went of a ride on my road bike from Bournemouth out to Swanage and back, nice 25 mile ride, kept a fairly good pace and there's a fair bit of uphill section. Was an overcast day but reasonably high cloud base, not too warm so that was good.

No pictures unfortunately, but going to do that run again if I have the time over the next week or two so will make sure to get some.

Only for a spin around the locality, but boy it was wonderful to get out on two wheels again. Thumbs Up

22 miles on local errands around Ipswich.
Not really very scenic so no pictures, but hey ho!

It's my standard Sunday morning run, if I can't be bothered taking my mountain bike out on the hills. Only 20 mins from my house and the saussage rolls are to die for. I usually do a 50 mile loop through the rissingtons, down to Bibury, Cirencester an back home.

Mine's out to Charlbury, A44 to Moreton, then down through Bourton, Burford and home.

Doesn't tlook like Kris is going to get around to it, so a couple of shots from the ride we did on Friday:

Elan Valley:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0763_zpszoqti3vy.jpg

On the mountain road to Aberystwyth:

Aberystwyth:

Today, popped down to H's café, where was seen...

Turbo Bandit:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0771_zpsg2ootgu5.jpg

'course, everyone knows that won't be fast enough, so why not add a little:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0773_zpsvipdh9rz.jpg

which made me laugh...well, it would, wouldn't it Smile

I like the look of these, and this is one of the nicer ones I've seen:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0775_zpsp4nk1d40.jpg

Bit slow and heavy for me though.

Liked this, too:

Old skool muscle:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0778_zpsnatwfd3k.jpg

Then did a run down to the A4, blasted along there to Avebury. 'The Avenue', standing stones, leading to the stone circle:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0779_zps4sggvrza.jpg

Don't suppose we'll get too many more sunny days like today was, gotta make the most of 'em.

Actually, yesterday I was out with Slacker24Seven (Marcus) and my Eddie from work. We hit up the Black Mountain Pass in Wales, aka the Chris Harris/Top Gear road (A4069). I almost hit a sheep!

Video Link here

In B4 Poor obs comments, I did raise my hand to warn Marcus of the sheep and took a wide line, but I guess they were pretty suicidal! Wink

Yeah, had a few sheep near misses myself in Wales. This one caught on my mate's video:

If they're right at the edge of the road, all you can do is slow down to pass. Somewhere like the Elan Valley, they're a real menace to bikes, so I just treat roads like that as scenery-only rides. It's a pity about those on roads like the 4069, so my approach is knowing which roads there will be sheep on, and choosing different ones for having a bit of fun.

It's been said many times, but there seems to be some truth in if they've got their heads down grazing, they probably won't run across in front of you, and I also look out for lambs on their own - they might run across to Mum if they get spooked.

Doesn't look like Kris is going to get around to it, so a couple of shots from the ride we did on Friday..

Don't suppose we'll get too many more sunny days like today was, gotta make the most of 'em.

Laughing Was gonna post mine tomorrow from work but they're the same as yours so you saved me the hassle; I did warn you I'm not one for bothering with pics! Mr. Green

What was that road called, the 22 miles of twisties? That was mega, had great fun chasing you down there. Long day but worth it.

Thumbs Up
