I bloody love my Street Triple! ........so why the hell have I not been out much this year |
Too much rain? It hasn't really been the best of summers, has it. I haven't done anything more than a 4 night camping trip myself, and that to nowhere new, because I couldn't see a forecast with more than a couple of days of at least dry weather together. I had planned on doing Cornwall and Devon this year, but even that failed to materialise. And Scotland has been on my mind too, but haven't bothered. All because of the weather.
And there was me, at the end of last year, saying roll on 2015 OK, roll on 2016, but this time I'm not so confident. At least by next summer, I should have whole areas on my doorstep that I haven't explored, so maybe the odd sunny days will be more interesting, even if I don't get a decent trip in again.
It hasn't been a completely wasted year though, for either of us. You've managed to squeeze in a couple of good, albeit shorter, trips in judging by some of your posts here. Plus of course, BCF BBQ, which makes up for a fair bit
So yeah, roll on 2016
The funny thing is, it's only since I started using bike forums, with threads about "where you been?", that I've started to get disappointed with myself if I haven't explored anywhere new. I'm not really a competitive kind of guy, but this thread, and similar on the Fazer Owners Club site have made me get a bit that way, or at least, competitive with myself, as I don't want to keep posting up pics of the same old places after I've been out. Whereas before I started using these forums regularly, I probably was more content to just do my favourite routes more often. Now, if I'm not exploring somewhere new, I'm not so happy.
Blast you, BCF and FOC-U, you're costing me a fortune! And there's still the Continent beckoning yet! ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Yorkshire Dales and back.
Started with 5 bikes. Clutch cable on one snapped before Brough so bodged that up and he went back home. Then a lad came off (same one I posted a video of the other week... and in the same friggin place too), then after getting going again with a suspected broken collar bone his clutch cable snapped about 10 miles down the road ffs 3 of us were heading home and my mates bike cut out, checked oil, none on the dipstick so he's still sat in Lanchester somewhere waiting for recovery. Have had better ride outs. ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Met up with Kris and did a raid over the border into Wales. I've posted plenty about my trips there, so will let Kris tell you all about it if he wants. I think he enjoyed it
Epic mileage he must have done today by the time he gets home - mine, just 340 miles.
P.S. I'm on my 5th Fazer thou, and that's the first time I've ever scraped the pegs, despite always being able to lose the 'strips. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Good to see you got home safe. You must have been knackered! Not many would be up for that on just a day out for a spin, and on a sports bike too

I don't think you can win races with blind faith and zero skill
We got lucky with the weather yesterday - went through one shower on the way in, then the sun came out ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Actually went out today on the bike (kin ell!) for the first time in ages.
Only for a spin around the locality, but boy it was wonderful to get out on two wheels again.
22 miles on local errands around Ipswich.
Not really very scenic so no pictures, but hey ho! ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

It's my standard Sunday morning run, if I can't be bothered taking my mountain bike out on the hills. Only 20 mins from my house and the saussage rolls are to die for. I usually do a 50 mile loop through the rissingtons, down to Bibury, Cirencester an back home. ____________________ The Tot 2007 Yamaha R1 4C8 2002 Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer &

Mine's out to Charlbury, A44 to Moreton, then down through Bourton, Burford and home.
Doesn't tlook like Kris is going to get around to it, so a couple of shots from the ride we did on Friday:

Today, popped down to H's café, where was seen...
Turbo Bandit:

'course, everyone knows that won't be fast enough, so why not add a little:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0773_zpsvipdh9rz.jpg
which made me laugh...well, it would, wouldn't it
I like the look of these, and this is one of the nicer ones I've seen:

Bit slow and heavy for me though.
Liked this, too:

Then did a run down to the A4, blasted along there to Avebury. 'The Avenue', standing stones, leading to the stone circle:

Don't suppose we'll get too many more sunny days like today was, gotta make the most of 'em. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Yeah, had a few sheep near misses myself in Wales. This one caught on my mate's video:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/sheep%20incident_zpsh0buyq89.png
If they're right at the edge of the road, all you can do is slow down to pass. Somewhere like the Elan Valley, they're a real menace to bikes, so I just treat roads like that as scenery-only rides. It's a pity about those on roads like the 4069, so my approach is knowing which roads there will be sheep on, and choosing different ones for having a bit of fun.
It's been said many times, but there seems to be some truth in if they've got their heads down grazing, they probably won't run across in front of you, and I also look out for lambs on their own - they might run across to Mum if they get spooked. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
