Red/black for the fastest look and the lineage back to Top Gun era Ninja's is the only option that makes any sense! Thumbs Up

At least it was not a nasty custard yellow J2, (like G had maybe?)
That was the low point of colour schemes on any ZX6R.

Only thing the Yellow bike had in its favour was that it wasn't a B1H and didn't look like it had just ram raided the back of a cash machine wall.

As Matt said mostly bollocks, but it depends to what level of handling your talking about?

Sure if you were going full track or wanting to spend lots of money on a fast road set up, you'd bin the rear shock or get it re-built.

It had too hard a spring as std, and not enough damping or range of adjustment. You did get a built in ride height adjuster that was not common on many 600's at the time though.

On Dunlop D207's (how long ago?) mine was stable but didn't like to turn in very quickly. Noob rider not knowing how to ride well was part of the problem too.

8mm more rear ride height helped out a lot, and changing to Pirelli Diablo Corsa's (that's how long my first set of tyres lasted Embarassed ) made it massively better.

The std tyre pressures are too high as well. You want 33psi front and 35-36psi rear IMO.

The forks and shock were no different from virtually any other Japanese sports bike of the time, in that the range of adjustment was not very great and it took too many clicks to make a difference.

Loved mine, and I think of it as a great genuine CBR600 rival that did many things better, but was a few notches down on build quality. That said it was noticeably better finished than an SRAD or YZF600R ever was.

This makes me feel nostalgic, I had 2 of those bikes - both J1's one green and one silver - loved those bikes!

Finally got round to fixing the dodgy indicator (front end fairing all off for this) with split rubber, as well as adding on the new levers and smaller plate. Need to address the large mudguard now!

Also, will add mini indicators on at some point in summer. Parts on order.

Mine, actually Mr. Green

I had a 1994 classic Mini for 4 years but then needed something more modern and practical (and that also didn't need welding every year) when I moved out.

The classic was great fun. I totally modernised the interior (added a radio into an upgraded dash with 3 clocks + speakers + centre console + leather seats) and fixed a lot of the rusty bits but couldn't be bothered in the end. The alternator kept snapping belts and also decided to melt the wiring connector at one point. It also liked to scrape on speed bumps Laughing

Thought I'd update this with a few pics of the Lydden Hill trackday I did a few weeks ago with some of the SE guys.

The Ninja performed very well! I will be swapping to some smaller clear arrow type indicators soon I think, but the bike is looking pretty much how I want. Maybe some cutting down on the rear mudguard...

Bought a fireblade 953 to replace my A1P but I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

It's such a good bike.

Oi, 'low it on the Spam bruv!

I do like the silver colour of those tbh, but with the price I paid for mine I am happy Razz

On another note, my Ninja passed it's MOT this weekend, even if if they did have to jump start it to test it (new battery needed I think!) Laughing
