You seemed to need 4 smaller knitting needles to form a tube with no seam.

I don't do knitting, personally. But the marvellously magical Maggie MCW has offered to attempt to knit a gargoyle for me; I suspect she might be a good person to ask.

during WW1 my father-in laws dad was a prisoner of war.

he picked bits of wool from the the fences around the prison camp, and "span" the wool by hand, without a wheel or anything, and made knitting needles out of some old bits of wire, and knitted socks for himself and the other prisoners.

Me, I just go to Primark. Confused
