aquired a cb250 off a member on here... was sold to a member who didnt have time or mechanical skills to do anything so i took it on as a winter hack project

i was told it shouldnt take much to get it going just fuel a tidy up and stuff..

the only picture of it i had seen is:

got a few bits off it and had a little look.. plenty of spiderwebs and shit..

and a hole in the frame..

No worries.. bit more work than i anticipated...

needs a good clean up, a wire brush and light welding.

fresh fuel, free the choke and kicked it over and it fired into life... happy days!!

got it up on the bench and decided the best action plan is take the engine out and i can work on the frame a lot easier...

got the engine out and flipped the frame to check underneath...

at this point.. i quickly realised i have a cb250 engine and some wheels to make a go-kart out of...

the frame was beyond repair, i was poking my finger through it in many places, a few wacks with a light hammer was dislodging major parts of the frame.

wheels needed rebuilding, needs speedo cable, choke cable and tacho cable, a massive tidy up, battery, new frame, new swingarm, caliper overhall, new tyres and tubes, new bearings all round.

so i feel this is probably the death of this cb250rs..

its not financially worth returning to the road unless i spend £200 on a frame and swingarm and the cost of having the wheels respoked.

Sick Sick Sick Sick

Can't recall what was used as a prop, but you can just make out something at the rear wheel.

I had one as a hack. It folded in half when I was sitting on it. Luckily I wasn't moving.

There's a nice one for sale near me for about £750. Only thing it needs is some helicoils in the head as the threads are a bit worn, otherwise mint. Must admit I was tempted.
