With all the arguing that's been going on here I thought "Where are the mods?"

I am against mods interfering too much as it defeats the point of a forum really. On some other forums the mods are much more active and arguing is kept to a minimum. But some perfectly decent threads have descended into pointless bickering too often recently. It is down in the most part to a few annoying people.

I think the mods should lock up threads that have gone this way to try and stamp it out. It's no good moving them to fights and flame wars because they just go on. You might say "Well don't read them then" but again peoples grudges sometimes will continue into a new thread. I think the mods need to make a stand.
You may well disgree.

You can lock a thread and then another will be started.

People will never all agree on every topic, it'd get very boring very quickly if all that ever happened on here was people agreeing about everything.

What are you wanting mods to do, ban people who you don't like?

Have you tried to lock a flame war thread on an internet forum?
Ok, if we were really strict we could, but the idea is that the forum is self-moderating to some degree.

I have done it once on here, it just ended in more people getting pissed of and several new threads starting, despite the fact I started another thread and specifically asked people not to start others.

That was about what I considered a very serious matter.
These are not particularly serious... just stupid kids proving what they're like, in my opinion Smile.

No need for more moderation - once a post gets to the point where it's bound for F&FW, I've usually stopped following it anyway. Might as well get the dross out of the way. You are not going to stop the kids continuing grudges into other threads, but where it has been like that, the karma kicks in and Darwinian selection prevails.

Nothing wrong with a healthy argument.

The Karma system IS the mainstream moderation system isn't it?

I don't think we need anymore human moderators. Smile

I dont think it is a problem as it is on some forums. Most of the people on here are mature enough to respect other peoples opinions and views and not start petty arguments or hurle abuse.

Similar to ShaggyDA, by the time it's in F&FW, I've stopped bothering to read it. The moderators seem to be doing fine as they are.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Ive been on forums where you get banned for rediulous things, saying TITS! would get you suspended and ARSEWEASELS is a ban, a personal insult would be perminent ban for all eternity.

Any boreing/crap/abusive posts are just karmed into the ground, any blatent spamers are gone within minutes...

Other forums that ive visited (only briefly) are just full of boreing crap, anyone posts a seriuos thread it decneds into one person hijacking the thread to ask another member what they had for dinner or if they had seen another member recently Rolling Eyes appart from being annoying it makes the forum just boreing with nothing worth reading anywhere...

Only thing i dont like is the dissagree Thumbs Down rateing... everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if they are wrong Razz

On the scooter world forum about 50% of the members are mods / admin. Its pretty shit really because they all have their names like "The invincible mod" and "The forum king"

Its not very good IMO because about 80% of threads started are by mods anyway. I like the karma system. Treat it good and it will treat you good. Thumbs Up

I suppose you love it until you get karma bashed, Then you hate it Twisted Evil

The mods are doing just fine.

Leave it be.

Arguements are entertaining sometimes and most resovle themselves.

If you don't like the row, don't follow it.

If they go to far it goes to the flame section anyhow.

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 19 years, 52 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
