Always wondered about this and comments like it.

Do you have a problem looking at bikes on the street that means you can't see their plates?

Do you have access to the dvla database so you can get the owners details and the chassis No.?

Most stolen bikes are broken for parts but the ones to be re-registered are shipped to places like Poland, registered and resold anywhere in the EEC. Therefore no need for a stolen plate No.

If I wanted to steal your bike I'd just follow you home and smack you around the head with a baseball bat as you parked. Not subtle but it works.

Sickpup, that's not the idea. He's referring to Cloning I think, when someone puts your registration on another bike, to avoid speeding tickets, parking tickets and god knows what. Someone could take your plate number down off the street, but it's much easier to browse the net looking for a number, better safe than sorry.

And as for getting owners details, well, you could get their VIN number and their address from just a registration plate. Just do an HPi check on it Wink
