This is the result of a internal disagreement...

I was going to stick it on the lathe and just skim it all down, but ebay turned this up for £5...
https://www.bangor.ac.uk/~bsuc15/dull.JPG
And a VERY boring day in the lab on a gas analysis machine turned it into this...

All it needs now is a session with some valve paste to lap up the mating surfaces nicely.

I'm going to have the fastest 125 EVER. Watch out, because with my shiny head and my lightweight i'm gonna kick you CBR riding butts... Twisted Evil Thumbs Up Very Happy

What difference does a shiney head make.
Aslong as it creates a seal, It will work wont it Confused
I only thaught there would be a performance upgrade if the actually barrel was pollished.

Apparently helps with the flow of the gases and increases performace.

my KR-1S crank cases have being polished (flowed) but not sure it made much if any extra BHP.

The gain is theoretical. The main reason i do it is because it reduces carbon build up and makes future strip downs easier. The lack of carbon build up reduces the chance of knock occuring which is an issue in my high compression engine. The exhaust port and PV are done just to reduce carbon build up.

But, it looks cool. Crankcases shouldn't be polished, they should be slightly roughened to help keep the fuel atomised. However, like most things. The difference the little things make is tiny.

There is a different between flowed and polished. Crankcases should be a frosted sort of texture to keep oil in place and help atomise fuel properly, but flowing is where you analyse gas routes and flow, then cut and fill the crankcases accordingly so the fuel/air can take the quickest/easiest paths to the transfer ports.

IMO polishing is stupid. Unless its a race bike, and you polish it every 1000 miles or less, it will just carbon over again Smile

Do you mean due to boredom you sat and polished it in the corner?
