just bear in mind that tritium has a half life of about 10 years.
so if these watches have been sitting around for a while they may be a bit dim.

Blimey that is a good price, suspiciously so.

The half life of tritium is about 12 years so they will get quite dim if they are older than that.

ive had watches off them. no problems.
easy enough to return if not happy.
prefer Nite watches to luminox myself.
https://www.nitewatches.com/

some of Nites watches are using T100 tritium which is the brightest available on a watch.

Seiko 5 look nice, not something I would collect personally but still look really good even though I am not a fan of chunky hands.

I wouldn't touch the Luminox, it's a soulless quartz watch. I would go for the Seiko 5 automatic.

I just added one to my collection.
Orange dial. Trendeeee AF.

I like the glass back.

I also added a Citizen Eco Titanium to the stable in October. Halloween gift.

I like that more. Feather light.

And Moar Trendee.

The gas tubes work for 25 years.

But more than likely not as bright as when new.

You could probably open the watch and paint some lume on.
Ghetto.

The battery tech. The titanium construction was why I bought mine. I had one of the first citizen titanium years ago. I think it was automatic.

Fk knows where that went to.

Edit: I'm in the process of the resurrection of three verge fusee pocket watches. 1780s
Fitting hairsprings to balance wheels under a microscope.

Worthless really, intrinsic value.
A watch that's was made by had a couple of hundred years ago is an interesting thing.
The tools are more of a money pit.

The orange dial Seiko 5 is a pretty bold watch. Good one to have.

The Citizen Ecodrive Titanium on the other hand is another one I wouldn't touch because it's a quartz watch.

if you want tight accuracy you need a battery powered watch unfortunately.

If I wanted accuracy I would look at the phone I always have with me anyway. I want a piece of mechanical engineering on my wrist because watches are mostly fucking pointless nowadays other than as just nice things to have. I like mechanical watches because they have personality.

That's just my opinion though, I am happy to admit that quartz watches are perfectly good time keeping instruments but I don't wear a watch to keep time.

some of us old dinosaurs do still occasionally leave our phones at home when we go out
so actually do rely on a watch to tell the time.

Mechanical watch accuracy is probably good enough for every day accuracy.
I only feck with my Breitling when I change the date (30 day 31 day thing), or moving through time zones.

A minute every few weeks is not a worry unless you are a starship driver.

I did notice that my new Seiko is a few minutes slow after a couple of weeks.

The spensive Seikos like the Grand Seiko Spring Drive use a blend of mechanical movement with kwartz regulation.
Very cool system when you see it opened.

I have a couple of nice pieces that I've forgotten almost about - both automatics picked up from ebay for small money..

One is a Rado - possibly a silver horse

The other is a 60s/70s era 'brutalist style' Tissot Seastar

The Rado is in need of repair as the winding weight fell off - I tried a local guy who fixed it for a week or two until it fell off again..

The Tissot runs but only for about 1/2 day so I'm guessing is in deparate need of a proper service.. Has anyone ever used these guys..?

https://tickking.co.uk/services/professional-watch-servicing/?

or are there other recommenations? I may treat myself over Xmas (with a watch service)

The main issue with watch service is that watchmakers became a dying breed when quartz arrived. So it takes forever to get a service and cost is high.
6 weeks and £550 later to service my Breitling. After ten years use, that's not really expensive.
Case and bracelet polish et-al. Breitling service. But maybe a watch service company who do allsorts.
A winder fix is not a major task. Only part is cutting the new stem to length.
Since I am now an watchmaker (unguilded) since I have a lot of new watchmakers tools, I would fit a winder stem myself.
Buy a new case seal when at it.
The tools and parts would probably cost less than a car service.

The Rabid Ho of watchmakers.

My Breitling has an ETA movement, your omega probably has too.

It's not an omega unfortunately but a Tissot I think from the era when they shared some resources and before the Swatch Group buyout maybe..

Navigating the watch world for a specific need can feel like diving into a sea of options. Your requirement for a vibrating alarm coupled with smartphone connectivity is unique, especially considering your larger wrist size. While I haven't encountered such a watch personally, a friend once shared their quest for a specific feature-packed watch. Surprisingly, they stumbled upon a store offering a diverse range, including some high-quality fake watches. These replicas weren't just knock-offs; they were crafted with precision and attention to detail. Perhaps exploring such avenues might unearth a hidden gem that fits your criteria perfectly.

OK you Hormongers err I mean horologists
cast yer peepers over these beauties

The 'Russian tank' I got from a Poundshop
guess how much I paid for it?, go on.... guess

Seiko
give it few twists and off it goes
maybe a runner

Tradition
hands adjust but no second hand sweep

Bentima 'centre second sports recorder'
hands adjust but no second hand sweep

I found these while clearing out a box of nick naks
They've been in there for a long time.
Why did keep these when I never wear watches? fuk nose.

Bin job? charidee shop? enthusiast interest mebbe?

The 'Russian tank' isnt even worth the price of a battery
I bought it way back to perhaps fit to a bike handle bars
When I saw the tiny movement and aspirin sized battery I
never bothered cos it was too cheap and nasty even for me.
I even have another still in the box Embarassed

Weirdly, the Seiko is probably the most valuable, despite the 'Swiss made' legend on the bottom two.

Tradition were a brand sold by Sears Roebuck and that one may have been made by Heuer (not TAG Heuer) and likely dates from the late 60s/early 70s.

Bentima were a British company, but like Sears, they didn't make them, they got product made with that name on. There is a suggestion the major supplier was Oris.
