Has anybody done Rockingham recently?

It's a track I am curious about doing, but never really got off my arse and sorted it Rolling Eyes

I don't think I have even seen a track layout TBH.

Opinions/maps/video appreciated Thumbs Up

I've done it twice; once on the International and once on the National. The second time was where I highsided (hence WN's amusement! Razz ).

I like the circuit; it's very new so the facilities are good. Because the track is new it's nice and smooth and the design is good. The corners are really good and it's a nice smooth, flowing track. The International Circuit is (obviously) bigger and involves about a third of the Indy Circuit oval. There is a dodgy camber change on the way onto and off the oval section but nothing too bad. The other good attraction about Rockingham is that there a couple of good sweeping left handers, which are rare.

Spectators can't see much at ground level, as you can't get out of the pits really. If they go up into the stands they can see everything (but it's a bit of a trek).

Here's the pits and "start/finish" straight of the International Circuit, together with the infield section that's used on that and the National Circuit:

Here you can see some of the infield section:

Here you can see the far side of the circuit. This is from the International Circuit day. The bikes you can see on the oval will turn left at the next opportunity and cut back on themselves, into the infield section:

This is the International Circuit (almost). The only difference is that the track just above the blue section (there isn't a lake?!) cuts in on the earlier route and doesn't run round as wide. The strange thing here is that the circuit runs anti-clockwise.

This is the National Circuit. I highsided at the bottom 90 degree corner Doh! This one runs the normal clockwise.

Overall, good track and I like it. It doesn't have the character of Cadwell (for example) but it has everything needed for a good trackday Thumbs Up

I've done the national circuit, great fun, loved the left handers. and very good facilities. There are a few bumps on the trakc but changes to lines can see these minimilised. The only part of the track i didnt like was the same corner where silver highsided! quite a tight right hander with little run off which you come into quite quickly.
