Hi all, I have a CB400, made in 1994.

Considering I need a bike for everyday use to work and errands, and also the way fuel prices are rising I'm thiking of getting something with a 125cc engine, and hopefully single / twin cylinder (4 stroke though) and single carb not with 4 carbs like mine.

Now, what I'm looking at presently are the following:

>> Daelim Roadwin 125 (styled very similar to my CB 400, but with a single cyl 125cc engine)

>> Hyosung XRX 125 (a scrambler with a 125cc single cyl engine too).

Similar to the Daelim Roadwin, there is the Hyosung Comet 125cc too, but this has a V-twin engine, which I think would probably not be as economical as the single cyl Roadwin engine, and besides that, I have a feeling (correct me if I'm wrong here please) that Daelim have a better build quality as opposed to Hyosung, and last longer.

Can you please give me your honest opinions in this matter?

Besides, is it worth exchanging a 1994 CB400 with a new bike from any of these above (without gaining or losing money)??

I'm open to any suggestions, even any other bike anyone may deem suitable for the purpose, as long as it's stocked here in Malta, and also as long as it's a road bike / scrambler (not a moped or racer or scooter).

Thanks

Hyosung are probably better built than Daelim, as Hyosung are a bigger company.

Also parts are far easier to get for Hyosungs too, as their UK Importer Banavar stock shed loads of spares for them as they are trying really hard to push the brand in the UK.

Plus I've never even heard of or seen a Daelim on the road, though I've seen alot of Hyosungs and ridden a few too!

I see... here you basically see only a few of both. Regarding rust and so on... are Hyosung reliable or do they rust quickly if you don't have a garage?

Besides that, I've heard a negative comment (which I don't know if true) that the V-Twin engine of Hyosung has very poor cooling on the rear piston and thus heats up quickly...

Build quality on Hyosungs is about the same as Suzuki really, if not slightly better.

On several older Hyosungs I've seen (oldest is 2001 Reg) they still seemed to be in good condition, though one had a slightly rusty exhaust and that was about it.

One thing I would point out though is if you do get a far eastern bike replace the shitty tyres asap that they come shod with!

It'd be quite a difficult task to get used to a rusty silencer as my CB400 is very nice with a shiny stainless steel one Surprised

Regarding tyres, the ones with my CB400 are quite crappy too, and road holding is quite lacking, but to get a good pair of Michelins it's approximately MTL150, amounting up to approximately GBP240 Shocked
