Hi

Can I suggest people read the guidelines for ratings:-

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=22854

Most noticeably:-

Thumbs Down This post is Abusive:
Use this reason when a poster uses extremely bad / racist language in an attack on another user, or gets way too personal in an argument.

Yes some people have made comments a bit close to the bone and pretty insulting. However it is pretty rare that I have seen posts that are extreme enough to go with that description. At most 99% of them should be :-

Thumbs Down This post is A Flame:
Use this reason when a poster is making a deliberate attack on somebody else, but without using particularly bad language or racism.

All the best

Keith

I think Keith should have locked this thread, we don't need to go over it all again.

I think the 'Abusive' and 'Flame' ratings have been adjusted in weighting in the whole system by Korn, with a lot more negative effect than before, hence Gamma's spectacular decline into the world of red blobs.

Maybe this will cut down on the name slinging and slanging matches that seem to have been the norm recently.

There has been some beautiful weather this week, and long may it continue. Once we hit spring and people can really get into some proper riding again we'll see some more bike talk and less bitching on BCF.

I happen to think that someone threatening another forum member with violence is getting way too personal in an argument Keith, but I'll agree to disagree and choose my ratings more carefully in future!

That and the fact that he managed to collect about two hundred of them in a day! Laughing

Also the spam rating:
Quote:
Thumbs Down This post is SPAM:
Use this reason only if you spot a blatant piece of unsolicited commercial advertising, similar to what you would term junk mail.

This is not to be used when you don't like the poster.
Nor is it to be used if you don't like what they're posting when it's non-comercial.

Ahhh, now you open yourself up the accusation of moving posts so that your original thread is not moved to F&FW, thus losing you karma... Wink

Not moving it to F&FW.

Did consider locking this thread as suggested.

I was only kidding Very Happy .

To be honest, although it can get childish, I kind of like the way threads are left pretty much to elvolve. At least to the point where they become exceptionally abusive and get shifted. But even then people have the freedom to continue posting (albeit at a cost).

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 18 years, 83 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
