|

More a question for the peeps who've been around the forum for at least a year and a half or more really.
Up to a year ago I would of recommended BCF to anyone that had an interest in bikes or even a problem relating to them, but lately I find I'm reluctant to.
Why? Well I guess it could be the amount of shite posts the forum gets, or the uncalled for attacks from some members when someone posts a question which may not be simple to them, but perceived as simple to the keyboard warriors out there.
May be a combination of these factors mean I'm slightly embarrased to be associated with such immaturity? Or even concerned that if I recommend the site to a person with a problem they may just find themselves been hounded by the wolves.
So.... do you still recommend BCF? ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

Yes I still recommend BCF.
Why?
Because you do get a lot of help here, with the likes of Kickstart etc. Its also good for just a wind down at the end of the day, you can just type drivel and get things out your system. Its good for a laugh when you can laugh at the little bitches arguing, and Gamma's stories! ____________________ 04 zx10r with mods - 187.4bhp at the wheel! :o |

I recommend it, just not the Offtopic Section or Fights and Flames. Apart from that it's a good place for information, General Bike Chat and Workshop give a good place for newbies to ask questions and have them answered.
But a cull is still needed. |

I tell anyone that i recon needs help on advice from people that wont try to sell them something (ie: most bike salesmen). And if you ignore all the pish, the place is acctually REALLY handy. Its kinda like a knowlage database with real people! Plus i tend to find the Regional parts are alot more friendly. This could be because people that are regional have similair lifestyles, or the fact that most of the time they are close enough to come kick you in if you start being a tit. Or maybe the Scots are just the best type of people . Either way, a few people (including myself) tend to post topics in the regional forum that would usually involve some arsehole directing you to a page holding the info on the topic of the thread, while really your looking for an OPINION. ____________________ Will work for petrol

Honest answer? Only to give others a good giggle at some of the recent threads. Gamma, Siggi and Markcatate have all provided several of my non-bcf internet buddies with some light entertainment recently.
Or to quote one of them: "Fuck me, it's better than Eastenders!"
Sorry Korn.
I will sometimes advise people to register here (if they haven't already) and PM a couple of people if they need specific advice about things that I know they can be helped with. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

I would recommend it and have in the past,
I look at this forum of more of a community than just a place to get info and advise,
I think that IMO being a community you have to take all the stuff that comes along as it does in real life.
By the way i still class myself as a n00b around here so maybe I'm a bit paranoid but posts like these i take as your talking about me when saying we need a cull. ____________________ "Its Better To Burn Out Than Fade Away!!!!!!" "Lifes a bitch and then you Die"

BCF is great, well was. Only so many 'new' topics you can get before they keep getting regurgitated.
I somewhat feel the original members don't post as much because there are a lot more members on here these days? So it doesn't have that 'homely' feel it used to...I could be talking pap here, correct me if I'm wrong but that is the jist I'm getting from 'you' lot.
I know what you mean though, perhaps I may be considered one of those people but a certain number of folk on here have...well...made this board somewhat 'predictable'. Naming no names.
Still, without it, I wouldn't have met the great people that I have done and hope to meet more. So in that case, given the opportunity, I would recommend BCF. Regional, workshop and exchange in mart sections are great. |

BCF is grate for anyone getting in to biking,,,, i mean if you have a problem and post in workshop lots of people are willing to give help...
the forum has lots of members which means lots of different opinions so there is bound to be disagreement we just have to live with it... ____________________ .......... PLOD ............ zx636 2004 |

Somewhat close!
I made a lot of people who I consider to be 'friends' and quite a few people who have become close friends through the forum, I remember my first big meet being one of gavs BBQ's, back then I could introduce myself to people and despite never meeting me they'd instantly know who I was because everyone religously read everything on the forum. I've made friends through hear who randomly turn up on my doorstep because they're passing and they're welcome to, I've been on nights out all over the place and had a bed to sleep in the night before a trackday, none of which would've happened had the forum not been here.
These days people can turn up to the meets and not have a clue who people are from posts on the forum, it seems to be full of a lot of people who want to play it big to try and get recognition, because of the vast amount of people doing this you can't be arsed to trawl through the shit. The repost police for one make this forum very tiring for me, so fucking what if it was posted 6 months ago, I can't be arsed to sit and read evry thread on here any more.
So the forum has lost it's homely feel, I don't instantly hate new members because of it though, I'm still open to meeting new people but it's not as simple as it used to be, I used to make pretty damn good judgements of people from their posts because everyone was themselves and didn't try to play it big, these days you find most people post completely different to how they are in real life so when you do meet them you feel you still know nothing about the person.
As I said, if the 'regulars' or 'clique' whatever you prefer to call them I'd be gone, those are the people I know best and have drank with, been to meets with and know, without them, it's just another forum for me to look over and leave. |

Jesus H christ shaun your making a lot of sense in this thread!
Even I am beginning to tire with a lot of the threads of recent, plus the forum seems to have got to the point that every few weeks the same or a variation of the same thread is posted.
There is only so many times you can be helpfull reccomending 125's to people. After all they NEVER really listen to what you have to say and do what they were going to do anyways.
Then there is the insurance threads etc. I quite often now ignore a lot of threads, something a short while ago I wouldnt have done.
Having said that I rarely post elsewhere on the basis I know who people are on here, met a lot of very cool people off here too so they know who I am.
There is still a lot of people I would like to meet because they have done me favours having never even met me before. I would like to say thanks to them in person.
I do think there are some members that just post everywhere and I get very bored with that.
I could go on but I will stop. |
