It won't do 75, might indicate it though.

How is the air filter looking and how far are you revving 4th and 5th gear for?

You won't need to go into 6th, you don't want to if you are trying for 70mph.

Imagine 6th is like a 7th gear... there is no pull, its pretty much there for show.

115km/h perhaps.

Drag increases with the square of the velocity, and drag is the main thing limiting a bike's top speed. All other things equal, you need 4x power to double your speed. Bear this in mind in case you're looking at making modifications that will have marginal impact on power output.

A CBR125 isn't a whole lot more than a standard 125cc motor in a sporty looking frame. Approximately the same power output as the PS125 scooter (which was pretty good for a 125cc scooter), but a lighter frame (so acceleration at low speeds will be better); but that really is the area you're playing in.

My SH300 puts out 27hp, my old PS125 put out about 13.5hp. Top speed of PS125 was about 60, measured by GPS. SH300 has double the power, but the top speed I've gotten out of it on the flat is 86mph - which is about sqrt(2)*60 = 84.8. With the aerodynamics of that kind of scooter, I'd need 54hp before I'd hit 120mph. My ER6 has 70hp, but it tops out around 130mph.

So your gloves are soft and padded for my protection. My gloves are leather with solid carbon-fibre knuckles. Okay genius. Wink

There's nothing to help with here.

You bought a CBR125. You're getting 55-60mph out of it. That's all it can really do. You might get a few more mph by riding it properly and keeping the maintenance up.

115mph is a blatant lie. My bike doesn't do that and it has 3x the bhp of yours.

I had a CBR125 before this.

Yeh you need a big performance upgrade like one of these.

I only ever saw an indicated 70 out of mine in good weather in good conditions with a fully warmed up engine.

If you want to go faster, pass your tests. It's the cheapest way to double your speed.

This, pretty much. On a nice flat stretch of motorway with no headwind I can get just over 70 indicated, screaming along in 5th gear.

Any kind of incline and the speed drops by 5-10 mph pretty quickly, up a hill you have no chance.

And that's with a fairly well maintained bike, even if I do say so myself. Just remember these bikes don't make much more power than a couple of lawnmowers; you need to be realistic with your expectations Smile

Laughing You new?

Hasn't mummy told you Santa isn't real yet?

Just get a red power-band for it and see how that helps. Dealer should have one for a couple of quid.

Dont listen to that shit. Ask for a green one. They cost around £6 but make the bike much faster. You will lose some MPG but well worth it.

Jamie, your bike's paint is the thing slowing it down. You need to use a different spectrum of colours to ensure better redshift. Speed is all an optical illusion, y'know. Try wearing a very large, thick pair of glasses, with a spiral painted over each lense, to simulate the sensation of going into a black hole as you ride. It should help make everything feel a little bit closer to light speed, but don't turn the throttle too hard or you'll cause the universe to collapse.

I'm certain this whole thing is a piss-take. Jamie, your name is rather English, for such a foreign style of writing.

Anyway it's all still fucking hilarious so do carry on, everyone.
