For sale at a dealer near me:

Just the kind of thing that would spark my impulsive-buy mode once upon a time. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

What seems to be the problem? If you've got back muscles firm enough, you don't even need arm strength to ride. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Fucked on both counts unfortunately
Broke my back in April last year. It's fine on the Fazer - perhaps even the most comfortable it ever gets, but I'd be concerned how it'd be on something like this.
But that's not even my biggest problem. My gammy left arm and shoulder reduce my reach on that side. Even on a bike that I might only do shorter trips on, I think I would have trouble.
I'm tempted to go take a look, maybe ask if I can have a sit on it just to see, but I pretty much know it won't work.
I'd love to have this as my first big v-twin though - it's just soooooo cool ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Not quite sure what you mean by "hacked together" - looks ok to me?
Love the matt black with white highlights, even though I'm not usually a fan of matt paintwork.
I don't like the blue frame on your examples, and they seem a bit 'over-blingy', I like something a bit more understated; but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder...maybe I'm drawn to ugly bikes cos I'm an ugly bloke
Plus, adding risers to bikes like these just seems a bit sacrilegious. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Yeah, that much did register with me, but would have thought that could be remedied without too much hassle - or do you think the subframe has been cut to get that angle? ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

It looks like a 600ss frame with a modified rear subframe. The engine possibly from a 900ss. The suspension look like circa 90s showa as do the wheels.
I suspect it will be slow to steer, heavy and difficult to ride smoothly below 3500rpm. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

Yes, it is a 900 engine. Not sure about slow to steer, it looks like quite a steep head angle? Do you think the seat could be modified to compensate for the steep subframe angle? Not that it really matters to me, cos like i said, I can't ride a bike with clip-ons anyway. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

The 600 and 900 and to be fair most 90s ducatis were slow to steer in comparison to the twin spar framed bikes. It's one of the things mentioned in reviews. Good and stable through corners but slow in transitions. All lumpy at low revs, most need clutch slave upgrades.
Anything can be modified.

Well seeing as you're toying with the idea of a RD it doesn't sound like you'd be doing much touring on it so why not get it, and then build your core strength back up.
I say it's better to have the bike you really want, and ride it a few hours a week than something that doesn't quite float your boat.
You've got a car so you can be choosy. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud
