Does anyone have a cure for a bike sweating up.

I keep my bikes in a barn with plenty of fresh air going throu, I never cover it up, and it still seems to sweat.

Can you help please. Rolling Eyes

The bike is a special, gixer 1100 full race tuned in a 750 frame very light, it has been cut down to 130kg, bloody fast nice to ride with a spare set of pants Embarassed

The Barn might be a bit damp, but never a problem with the hay Smile

Alot of the higher price bike covers claim to be breathable/sweat reducing. It seems like its worth the money with a nice bike if it works.

Claims to be resistent to condensation, but then again can just make the problem worse in reality.

Maybe a special indoor cover would do the job better?

http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/Store/Category/CategoryList.aspx?ManufacturerId=21

Claims are all there, not sure how good they are.

Sweat Rolling Eyes Its condesation for gods sake.

You wont get rid, the breathable covers will help, but nothing will get rid of the cold air forming water droplets on the cold steel unless its kept inside the house with central heating.

Sounds RGV250 type weight to me... and its an oil cooled 1100.

Doesn't add up in my mind, but I suppose it could be possible.

Does nt a litre engine weigh in at around 80kg, wheels, forks and a full tank of gas will surely weigh the same if not more.

130kg seems a little low in my very unexperienced mind.

If you've got power in the barn then you could get a dehumidifier as that will help the condensation - although if the barn is too open, it won't be as effective as there'll be more moisture brought in from outside...

I assume thats dry too...

Oil is quite heavy... doubt brake fluid would make too much difference, no coolant, fork oil isn't that heavy...

Cover it in an old towel. There's no way moisture will get under that.

MarJay, What about carbon fibre wheels, this that and the next thing?

Water is heavier than oil (as a friend of mine found out when an oil tanker filled with water broke under the weight...) and petrol. Not sure about coolant - probably much the same.

Sorry mate no way is that 130Kg.

More like 175kg and unless you're running a minimum 1216 although you would need nearer 1277 with Carillos, a good flow job with VERY high compression, cams, flat slides and a few other things you are no where near 170bhp. I can tell you're not running 1277 or flatslides as well.

Also you sure thats a 750 frame as it looks like a standard 1100 to me?

Oh yes I know my GSXR's very well.

yep no insult taken, I agree. I'm fine with geeperz for now.
I'd rather have a 'shitty' bike and be able to park it and ride it myself than have a litre bike and cry for a maan to help me park it

To big for most men as well. Compared to my 1100 my Fireblade is very boring and easy to ride.

To big for most men as well. Compared to my 1100 my Fireblade is very boring and easy to ride.

I didn't find a streetfightered one particularly 'hard' to ride - wide bars and a more nose-down attitude presumably help.
Though, of course I'm not that small a person, but I would have thought the problems would come in with parking etc as mentioned, rather than riding fast.

Go faster. They become a handful at over 130mph. Go back to the original comment and note the word fast.

Definitely had it over 100, don't recall exactly how much. Presumed fast meant fast for the roads, not straight out high speed.

Most naked bikes aint too pleasant at 130mph, (especially those with extra wide bars and generally setup for sharp steering), in my experience.

Sorry mate no way is that 130Kg.

More like 175kg and unless you're running a minimum 1216 although you would need nearer 1277 with Carillos, a good flow job with VERY high compression, cams, flat slides and a few other things you are no where near 170bhp.

He has gold anodised engine bolts, dont you know anything about bikes? Each bolt save 5kg and adds 7bhp- do the maths.

Not many stay pulling to 160 though.
