Update on "THCi"

[THCi Nathan's Mom]

Hi Everyone,
First off thanks to Ade for sending me the link to view the posts here.
THANKS for all the GWS messages!
We all need your prayers right now.

Nathan is still in a critical condition but not life threatening.
He has several injuries including 3 separate fractures to his spine, fractures to his skull fractured clavicall and bruising to his lungs.
The hospital are keeping him sedated and imobolised.
The pressures in his head are giving them some concern as they are fluctuating a lot , his temperature as shot up so there may be some infection bloods have been taken to check this out but as was explained to us it takes 2/3 days to get the results, he has been on a standard antibiotic since Friday but depending on the results may need that changing.
He has undergone so many scans he will be glowing in the dark, as I write this he is undergoing yet another one as his pressures have risen dangerously high over night they can't find the cause to this just yet and thats worrying.

I will try to come in here every couple of days or so to keep you updated as I know he has a lot of friends on here.

I wish to thank one friend in particular and thats Mat...
Mat you went that extra mile in looking after Nathan on Friday and we will be forever grateful to you!

There is one thing that i would like to point out here and thats Nathan was not complacent on this road as to the best of my knowledge it was not a road he had used before, I have always told my kids to treat any and every road EVEN the one they live in as though they have never traveled on it before, you never know what dangers are hidden around the corner!

Colin thanks for letting everyone know about Nathan, been a long time since we met but feel free to call on us with Mat.
Nathan will be in the hospital for some time so if you wish to visit just let us know and you will be more than welcome.

One last thing I will say before I sign off my novel LOL
We his parents are going through hell as is his sister Anna but at least we know his injuries were caused by something he loved!
Nathan worships his bikes and after his last accident we didn't think he would ride again but well hes a fighter and know that as soon as hes well he will want to know about his bike and whats happened to the new bike he was supposed to pick up on Saturday...
this may all be a bit of a jumble but well my brain seems to have gone on vacation to my left boot right now.
There is more that I would like to say but think theres enough here right now those that know me will tell you I can talk for the UK LOL if anyone would like oour address ask Ade and he will give it to you or if you would like the hospital details leave me a message and I will let you have it ... Nathan and Ade have been mates since they were about 3 or 4 .. sorry rambling now LOL

Thanks for the update Tracy, They kept me sedated for 9 days with my accident. It apparently speeds up healing, I know you are all going through hell at the moment, My parents did when I was sedated and until they knew I was going to be ok. Nobody knows how hard it can be until they have been in the situation.

As said he sounds like fighter and we all hope he makes a complete recovery. When he is alert pass on our good wishes as he won't remember much while under the influence of all those drugs (been there, done that, got the T-shirt).

Im not quite sure of the details, but from what matt tells me, he may well have saved Naths life, as Nath was choking on his own blood.

I think matt got his airway clear and got him on his side in the recovery position before emergency services arrived.

I hope I have someone as quick thinking on hand if I ever have a serious accident.

No thanks go to the policeman who only seemed interested in wanting to pin blame to an exaggerated extent, and giving an anti bikes lecture.

Not really the time and place, while still at the scene, while matt was still in shock and didnt know how nath was gonna be.

Also no thanks to first few cars who just drove past when matt tried to flag them down.

Its true Nath is a fighter, Matt said it took 5 of them to hold him down when they were trying to treat him and he wanted to get up.

That spirit should help him recover, I would have thought.

Presume the sedation is also to stop him moving to agravate the spine.

Hi Guys and Gals,
Well last night we had good news.....
Yesterday they fitted a drain to Nathans head to try and relieve some of the pressure and when I phoned late last night the pressure had dropped to 14/15 (normal pressure is 8/10) so we went to bed feeling a little better.

This morning before we had a chance to phone to see how he was the hospital phoned us...
things had taken a turn for the worse and well in a nutshell they have decided to take him down to theater to lift the compression fracture off his brain.. we are now waiting to hear how this has gone and we will keep you posted.


I am sorry for the length of my posts but beleive it or not this is helping me, and your replies are so supportive !

Bad news.
I just had a call off Naths dad - sadly he passed away at around 4 this morning.

I dont know any more details, and I cant current think straight to remember much else of what was said.
