I bought a second bandit today, and I noticed on the way back the the indicators blink at about half the speed of the first bandit - a single blink per second (thats pretty slow when you actually time it out).

What causes different speeds of blinking? (Especially on the same model. The only difference between them is that one has an alarm fitted).

Is this a symptom of something else, or is there a reasonable explaination?

thanks,

Loz

Will be the relay, have you checked all the indicators are actually working?

Yep theyre all working. Also, when an indicator blows, i thought they went faster than normal, not slower.

What is the relay, and is there any way i can test its working properly?

edit: actually there is 3 years difference between them. Maybe they used a different relay whatsit.

Since it flashes faster when theres less load on the electrics (e.g. bulb gone), would the extra load of an alarm maybe make it go slower? Or is that all bollocks? I'm not too hot with electrics.

less wattage bulbs, will make it flash faster. the more watts the slower.

Yea, the higher the resistance in the circuit the slower the flash rate. If you check the wattage of all the bulbs you may find they are not all the same. Drop the wattage to speed things up.

You are allowed between 60 and 120 flashes per minute to be road legal.

I had the same thing on my 1998 bandit, found in the end that it had a loose connection causing an earth fault so i would check all connections.

*cough* I'm shit at electrics - how would I find out if something was causing an earth fault? And how did you find exactly which conection was loose? (or was it obvious by looking at it?)

quite simple really i took tank, seat and plastics of and simply pushed every connection i could see or get to, earth fault just means that the indicators are earthing out when they shouldn't

hope that helps
