heavy/lumpy, slow (35ish bhp? I know my mates wr250f 4t is quicker than a drz400e which is the fastest of the drz's) but they require less maintaince than most other off-roaders. The engines are bombproof and are pretty much compared to DT's.. Cheap, fairly strong and dont need constant maintaince. Also with the DRZ's you have water cooling (another plus point for the road) and electric start Thumbs Up Not forgetting that there are tons of aftermarket parts for them. Thing is people tend to get bored of em quick.. Just not enough poke I think..

top speed i think is around 100ish (my mates drz'e' has the shorter gearing and different sprockets so it runs out of puff at about 65-70! Shocked but will wheelie off the throttle in every gear apart from 5th.

I also heard figures of 0-60 in 3.7-3.9....

You could get the 'e' version (bigger carb and more bhp) and then turn that into supermoto but you'll miss out on the longer gearing and better top end of the 'sm' ('e' version also has the plastic tank but the sm has digital speedo etc) but how it depends what your going to use it for (off-road/on-road or just purely a supermoto).. 100mph on a 'not so aerodynamic' bike isnt exactly comfortable.. Its even worse with a mx helmet!

Nice bike, but i think the lighter older DR350 was better, and with a 450cc big bore kit they were quite pokey too!
Personally if i wanted a fourstroke supermoto, id have to go for a big engine, to get the maximum grunt and bottom end power delivery possible. I imagine a honda XR650, XT600, KLX650 etc, would be more fun to ride for the torque!

Im now starting to actually think about doing something with my KMX200, and id like to hope that it is going to perform better than a DR400SM when it's finished, if that ever happens? Rolling Eyes
I've only been thinking of building it now for the last 3years, but at least i know in my head exactly how i want it to look!
