reposted my post here as i thought it would be more appropriately placed. has anyone made a supermoto bike out of an xr 250? I'm thinking of putting smaller wheels on with road tyres but not sure whether any wheels would fit as I've never seen an xr supermoto. any suggestions?

Cheers

Seen a few supermoto XR400s.

No reason you can't do it to a 250.
You can either look for some road wheels that fit - you can probably change bearings and spacers to suit from a variety of bikes.
You will also need to make up something to move the break caliper out.

Alternatively, you can get 17" rims laced onto XR250 hubs.
You'd probably still want to uprate the brakes.

Ideally, you'd also want to upgrade or at least set up the suspension stiffer for supermoto use.

Personally, I wouldn't spend a lot of money doing it on an XR250 - you may not be able to get that large a rear tyre and it's unlikely most people will make more use of the extra grip over decent road biased tyres on trail whhels.

One of the guys in our club s/moto`d an XR250 (he`s got an XR440 now)

He fitted Talon/Excel hubs and rims from a KTM, swapped out the bearings, had spacers made and bought a brembo caliper and carrier off a KTM
Then fitted an electronic speedo (from halfrauds) and everything was happy Cool

He`s now done all that again to his 440 Shocked

On that subject, it seems Honda did actually make a production XR400 supermoto, but not imported into the UK, so unlikely to get many bits.
