What sort of performance hit can I expect carrying a reasonably sized Pillion passenger on a 50cc 2-stroke moped?

As in, will it be dangerously slow?

I've carried people pillion before on my mate's 'ped but only a small person Laughing

I'll wager that it wasn't on a restricted 50 though Morgan Laughing

I would derestrict it but then I wouldn't be able to carry a pillion as it wouldn't be a moped any more.

it should still hold the 30mph, as the engine isn't restricted the gearing is.

restricted in the exhaust, variator, and airbox.

So it should in theory hold 30mph.

(hopefully) Laughing

He lived in pakistan but was an indian? Confused

Also - you mentioned that you can take a pillion on the moped. But, if it was de-restricted then it would be classed as a motorcycle and you can't take a pillion.

What difference does it make if you have passed your test?

I have a full car license, and having passed my CBT that gives me full moped entitlement, so I can ride a moped (but only a moped) with pillions.

When I was younger and even more irresponsible than I am now, I was one of a group who managed 5 up on a Sym Jet 50 moped. The thing still did 35!

One pillion shouldn't be a problem for speed, just acceleration.
