Well as a few of you already know, the CBR ended in tears. was knocked off it and its in my garage looking rather sorry for its self at the moment. until the insurance decide what they want to do with it, It will either be taken away, or I will keep it and it will become my track hack! Smile

But for the road, Ive just got myself an NC30.

100% original, fairings all oem and pretty much mint. One small scratch on the Near side.
50k on the clocks (so high ish, But well looked after).
Stainless exhaust system

I'm not going to say what I paid for it because it may be used against me when I come to sell it. Wink
Lets just say it was a good price.

Its got square tyres on it at the moment. So cornering is very poor. It is also really low at the back, I was almost straight leg`d when sat on the CBR with both feet on the floor. The Viffer is very low. Ive got a C spanner so going to have a go at raising the rear. Any tips?

Other than that, I think the front shocks need stiffening up, They are pre-load shocks like the CBR aren't they? So Just turn both tops clockwise to stiffen?

Acceleration, Not as good as the CBR I don't think. Off the line pull is quite poor. But mid range is actually very impressive. Lots more torque (or at least if feels like it) than the CBR. Not had it flat out yet. Only rode it home from the place I bought it from. So didn't see more than 70 out of really.

Everything is sound on it, And everything is so smooth. Unlike the CBR which was quite poorly assembled where it had been up the road a few times before I bought it, it had FG fairings and it liked to rattle. The Viffer is a well WELL looked after bike. The guy I bought it from is very "anal" about his vehicles. Dam_buster works with him, and if something isnt right on one of his vehicles, I MUST be replaced with brand new OEM parts etc. So everything is mint.

Im going to swap the braided hoses over form the CBR before the insurance come and view it. Also going to swap the front tyres over and replace the rear on the Viffer.

One more thing, its got a full stainless system on it, But the end can is part of the pipe work. Its not removable at all. Now the diameter of the pipe before the end can is like 60mm.

Whats the best way of fitting my Twin port can? Its a slip on, But only 50mm. Is there a link pipe for the Viffer?

What makes you say that?

Anyway, Got the bike out of the garage for work this morning and took a couple more snaps.
Need to take the rack off the back, the prev owner put a top box rail on, And it all comes off apart from the arms which hold the rail on. Few nuts and bolts and it will come off. Shall do that at some point.

Also going to give it a quick fairings off clean. The previous owner cleaned it well, but it has been used for commuting on, So there is alot of shite behind the belly pan.

Im probably just going to leave it stock after that, possibly a tinted double bubble screen and a different can.
But right now the bike looks like its just been wheeled out of the Honda factory. I plan to keep it that way! Laughing

Sweet.

Rear shocks on a bike that old are likely to be knackered. Especially as I found my old Gullarm's seat height was uncomfortably lower in comparison to the '30. Tweak to suit, invest in a cheap aftermarket or maybe even a spacer fitted at the top shock mount should help things considerably.

As would a pair of 090s. Thumbs Up

Nice bike, if the standard system has been already cut, have you considered a can? They sound like nothing else with a free flowing exhaust on them.

Where did you find this one?, i`m looking for one soon and cannot find anywhere that has one, a site name would be nice, if there is one. I`ll only be using it as a summer toy, so it will get the best of care.-Jockey.

I bought it privately through a friend of Dam_buster.
Craig, Its got what looks like a 1 piece exhaust system. Its got Honda engraved into the end can. Its all stainless too.

Ive been looking at Cutting it, but the diameter of the "slip on" bit is going to be massive. My Slip on can wont fit over it!

Tried to adjust the rear shock today, the "nut" on the top wont budge. Sad

Other than that, ive just dropped the front 11mm. Went for 10mm but could seem to get it there! And 15 was too low (The cibber is dropped 15mm)

Couple more pics.

Not advisable. The NC30's front wheel is very close to the bottom rad, dropping the forks through the yokes will mean they'll hit each other under braking.

Ill see how I get on. But until I get the rear jacked up, I feel 0% confidence in the bike compared to the NC29. Sad

That CBR handled a dream!

I'd advise you to keep the standard exhaust on the bike...works wonders for resale value! I had an NC as my 1st bike a few years back. Key mods include an NC45 rear wheel to allow better choice of tyres and pretty much all the suspension mods mentioned. Also, get a double bubble screen on and it'll be comfier! you can play about wi gearing but pointless unless its de-restricted. Anyway, I'm probably insulting your intelligence as you already have an NC29

oh aye...Japan Bike Spares is where I got everything I needed. Top Blokes Thumbs Up

Well was out on the viffer all day today. And a good day it was too! Very Happy

ZXRmike came out, I spent all last night fitting another engine in Dam_busters bike hoping to get it running for a ride out today.

We planned to go to Brighton but left it a bit late so just had a ride to Ebbsfleet.

I had Chelsea on the back with me, and Un-like the NC29, the NC30 fells no different power wise really with pillion, I could still keep up with mike on the ZXR easily. Was impressed.

I had a quick blat round ebbsfleet, Decked both knees then took both sliders off to stop temptation of doing it on every available corner like with the CBR.

Bit more whoring! Laughing

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/binge/DSC00469.jpg

I know modifying its "stock" state is going to decrease the resale value, But ill probably keep all the shite I take off it for when I sell it. I just want to do a few bits and pieces to it for my likening.

To do

Smoked Double Bubble Screen
Pair of Dunlop Alpha 10 Tyres
New Tank Pad (preferably A Honda one)
Paint schemed leather Tank Cover (If they exist)
Single Seat cowl
Fit Fold away NC29 pillion pegs (they fold up behind the rear panel)
Braided Hoses
NC35 Front fender
NC35 rear Shock mount (jacks rear up)
Pazzo Levers
Fit my Flush fit front Indicators
Fit small plate and chop rear plate holder down
Fit smaller rear indicators

And thats it! Laughing

Titot, The bike has had the regulator mod fitted. Smile So not much chance of that packing up. And if it does, Ive got 2 spares sat in my house. Both working.

Craig, There will be loads of odds and sods ill pick up over time, But the above list is the main things I want done to give the bike a bit of street cred. Its looking a little standard for my liking. Laughing

Got rear ended by a "shall we say" hooning R6. CBR come off not so good. Needs a new tank, Fairings, Clip ons, subframe, Engine casings, Levers and rear-sets.

That should be enough to make it into a Track bike. Smile

Wont see the road again though. Sad

Was thinking of going all out Power ranger 1 piece leathers for the Viffer. But ive decided against it. On the CBR when I was in leathers with sliders on etc, I felt like a racer and felt the need to ride fast round every corner etc! Laughing

Road rash, broken ankle and broken bike later, Ive decided to go for a more urban/street look for the Viffer.

Got the pants for my birthday today, Thought id model the new look. Laughing
