Hi

Yes I own one. Although mine is the year befores model with the larger headlights and a petrol gauge (and a few of the even older AF1).

That should do just under 100 true top speed.

In that colour scheme think it should have red wheels (white wheels went with the purple / white / red colour scheme).

All the best

Keith

Hi Keith

It's a 1993 model Smile

The guy that sold it to me (a friend of my dads) said he will do me a deal on some red wheels aswel, so i asume that they are the correct ones.

Thankyou for the reply

Matt

Haven't they done the RSV Mille with a very similar paint scheme?

I think it looks cool! Thumbs Up

Nope. It is a 1989 model, or possibly a 1990.

1990 the AF1 Futura replaced the AF1 Sintesi, and in 1992 the RS125 replaced the AF1 Futura. UK models were a bit behind as we didn't get the Futura until 1991 or the RS until 1993 (nor did we get the AF1 Sport in 1990, which was a Sintesi with a 34mm carb).

Guess it is a 2nd hand Italian import, where the registration date they seem to give is pretty random.

All the best

Keith

Oh rite. Thats really interesting. My log book says 1993, so thats why i asumed that. However, i could only find information on the 1989 bikes! Of the same kind.

Its definetly an import becuase the clocks are in k.

Thankyou for that! Very Happy

Do you know alot about these then?

thats good to hear Very Happy

The DVLA says:

Date of Liability 01 07 2008
Date of First Registration 01 06 2005
Year of Manufacture 1993
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 124CC
CO2 Emissions 0g/Km
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour MULTI-COLOUR

So it must have been registered wrong like you said Smile

Do you think i should get in touch?
I want to send the engine/frame numbers to a dealer to get the correct year ect first

They all were. Even the official UK imports.

A bit. Had Aprilia 125s for years.

To be honest it is likely to cause more problems than it is worth. I would just leave it.

All the best

PostPosted: 14:40 - 20 Oct 2007    Post subject: AF1 confusion??? Reply with quote

Hi Matt or anyone that can help. I just bought an AF1 125cc with a lost log book, I am applying for one now but details on this bike is sketchy. An HPI report lists a AF1 SP. Year of manufacture 1994 which I doubt. The bike came in boxes as the previous owner stripped it to colour the frame black. Also the engine that came with is apparently of a Aprilia 01-03 125cc (122)"so I was told" not so sure if it will fit as I havn't tryed it in yet. Wiring looks like he messed about with it aswell. I think it is either a Futura or a Sports Pro. Can anyone tell me if a manual is available for these. At the beginning of my Blade manual there is a list of vin numbers for engines and frames with model codes, I'm hoping the same for these. I am restoring this from ground up so any help will be greatfull. Rolling Eyes

Hi

Does it have 5 spoke wheels (AF1 Futura) or a 7 spoke front / 9 spoke rear (AF1 Sintesi). The Sport Pro was just a late Futura. Futura was in production from 1990 to 1992 (from memory) before being replaced with the RS125 (although there would no doubt have been plenty floating round the system for a while).

Sport pro would have been in yellow black and white.

Engine would have been a Rotax 123. The 122 will not fit. Front engine mounting is different and the ignition system is very different.

Never seen a manual for the Futura, although an engine manual is available from Peter Knight.

All the best

Keith

Hi Keith.

Thanks mate, brilliant help.
Mine is the Sport Pro then, black, white and yellow with 40mm upside down schocks and 5spoke wheels with single side swing-arm. Letterbox headlight. It is the engine that concernes me know, by the way just missed a complete 123 engine on e bay for 114 quid cause I thought it will be the wrong one, sods law. How would I know by looking which engine Ive got? Or which ignition system?
Thanks again.

Hi

The 122 engine has it stamped on the top of the engine (clutch side) by the barrel. Think the 123 just normally had a sticker.

123 engine used the older SEM ignition system. It will say on the flywheel, and on the coil (if you have it). Has 5 wires from the ignition on the engine. 2 go to the regulator / rectifier unit (both the same colour) while 3 go to the coil. There is no seperate CDI unit.

All the best

Keith
