On my 400 Bandit.
Ive disconnected it at the clock end and it has snapped about 2 inches down the cable. The trouble is at the other end it is very tricky to get a screwdriver into the slot, to take the cable off, due to the fork being in the way.
Any tips ?

Try getting a narrow pair of pliers on the screw, or molegrips. Failing those, it looks like you'll have to get the front wheel off i'm afraid!

it looks to me as though the speedo pickup isnt in the right position. the screw shouldnt be behind the fork as far as im aware.

try a flat blade screwdriver and insert it into the slot at an angle to turn in.
but i think id pull the wheel and make sure the pickups aligned right.

Screw out, or just pull out ?

The speedo drive looks like it's in the wrong place.

Just drop the wheel down, take the cable out, and put the drive where it should be. Won't take 10 minutes.

No don't use a flat screwdriver thats bodging it. Use the proper tools as if you chew the head up you will be in deeper trouble.

The screw that you cant get to is holding it in. It needs to come out first and then the cable will pull out. The wheel will need to be removed.

Aha.. Got it out. I didnt have an alan key big enough to take the wheel off, so i decided to just take it veeeerrryyy slowly, and after about 15 minutes of playing . it came out !!
So ive now got the cable out. Can i just buy the wire inside and thread it back through the armoured outer rubber cable ?

Thanks.
Every time the screwdriver slipped off i could see the head getting more and more f**ked. I was like "pleeease dont do it "
Any way its done now. So im off to the breakers yard, i reckon its the same cable as an early 600 Bandit. Same clocks aren't they.
