Hi all,

I'm a potential lady biker as I have my CBT tomorrow.

Was just wondering if anyone could give me some website links for sexy lady clothing.
Preferably something figure hugging as I don't want to look like a man beast!!

ps: is it ultra ridiculous if I want to still wear stilletoes??

Brick Wall
are you having a laugh?

leathers are skin tight so that if you crash your limbs wont fly off, it will stop internal bleeding and hold everything in place.

get proper clothing or not, i dont mind, you seem like a nice lady, and im guessing you still want you feet attatched to your body if you crash.

even a 20mph drop can chop your foot off, be under no elusion how dangerous it is to not wear gear.

i think some people need to wake up and realise what can happen if they crash, and I'll try and help, what can happen if you crash at 50ish mph? This:NSFW - not nice

regardless of whether its your fault or not.

Now i dont always wear gear, but I know what can happen to me if i crash, and its a risk i take.

So I'll be nice and answer your question in a nice happy unrealistic way:

Womens leathers are easily available, cost upwards of 200 quid, they are tight fitting for safety reasons. So yes you can get sexy bike clothing. I wouldn't advise wearing anything other than boots, preferably specific motorcycle ones, they will keep your feet on if you crash, will stop breaks and if your chain comes off, it might stop your leg from being chopped off. Not all bikers wear them, its your choice and how much you value your limbs and life.

Good luck on the CBT, it should be good fun.

Not sure about leathers stopping internal bleeding... as generally internal bleeding in an accident will be caused by stopping from a highspeed (i.e. hitting a wall/car/lamppost)... organs rupture so whether you are wearing leather or not wont really stop it. The armour inside on the other hand may stop your joints from being damaged. When i was struck by a van, my elbow and shoulder remained intact although my arm snapped between the two points.

Mostly leathers are meant to stop your skin and flesh grinding away if your sliding down the tarmac but its not guarenteed (they may bust at the seams)

Boots wise, your ankles and legs are still at risk (in an accident it may twist or get crushed) but generally a decent dedicated bike boot will try to minimalise this by having extra bracing to isolate the ankle and i guess most if not all biking boots have a solid sole that should be able to hold the bike off and stop it crushing your foot.

Theres some nice feminine gear about these days, but most of it seems to be pink... no doubt some of the female members can point you in the right direction.

You want leather then, textile can make you appear quite 'bulky' as opposed to leather which is designed to fit as close to your skin as possible.

Hein Gericke do a ladies range as far as I know, I'm not too keen on HG (Although I always end up buying there) but there are many people that are happy with them.

Don't forget if you're buying leather you want it to be as tight as possible, you'll probably want a 2 piece for convenience, and also you will need a waterproof oversuit (Which definately won't be sexy)

I never wear waterproof kecks and I look like I've pissed myself when I get into work (I wear my jeans underneath).

You definately do not want to wear stillettos, not only will they interfere with the controls (You will have to bring your foot off of the peg to put your foot down at traffic lights) but they will offer almost zero protection in an accident, you want a good solid pair of boots that preferrably restrain movement in your foot in certain directions and will not crush easily.

Are you just riding for pleasure? If not, I'd consider practicality to be far more important.

Thanks,
T

More to the point if you do wear stilleto boots that stay on your foot during an accident you will be subject to ripping and tearing injuries to your ankle and tendon as your foot is forced to hyperextend before the heel breaks off.

+10 points for style, -50 points for safety

Gear. You want decent bike gear. It's warmer and in the event of a crash the more padding around you the less you get damaged

I had a 60mph off around about a year ago. I impacted the crash barrier with my ribs and slid down it to a halt.

My heavy weight bike jacket was torn to tatters. Thick leather and lots of padding, underneath that I was wearing a thick wollen fishermans jumper underneath.

No damage to me, not even bruising and I am still wearing the fishermans jumper.

This girls gear is very sexy, would be very pleased to discover my o/h wearing it in bed one night but everytime I see that picture all I can think of is how unsexy skin grafts are.

Wear leather if you want to look feminine. Don't forget you want a decent pair of gloves as well, to protect your hands. Wear sexy gear and come off - you wont look very sexy then with loads of scars.

I personally wear textiles as they are a lot warmer and more waterproof, especially for winter riding. I might not look sexy in my bike gear, but I feel comfortable in my gear, surely that is more important that looks.
I came off wearing my textiles, suffered broken heel & badly fractured wrist, but no cuts & no scars!! I might not look sexy, but I feel better protected and do have the respect of a lot of male bikers.

Also J&S accessories do a nice range for men & women, got my 2 piece from them and it fits a treat, but was dead cheap too.

dear all,

Thanks for the advice and the website links have proven useful.

I'm happy to announce I've completed my CBT and now an official member of the bike "crew".

I will be getting a Honda CBR125 as its only for commute purposes, finance situation and the fact that its "dainty enough" so I can handle. (colour not yet fixed)

I most probs will get leathers since they are the "sexiest".

i guess stilletoes are OUT.....i was merely being lazy since I didnt want to bring 2 sets of clothes to change into for work.

Thanks again.

Leathers will only look sexy if the person wearing them is sexy. PM me various naked pics and I'll let you know if you are or not.

You don't have to thank me.

I think he meant that textiles would be better. And I'd have to agree, arriving home dry and toasty on Saturday, compared to my riding buddy who was freezing and a bit damp.

Check out spidi stuff they make some damn fine textile and leather gear.
Or the belstaff stuff if you have the ££££, owned by a fashion house and its evident!

Or if you are on a budget the weise impulse jacket looks good on a skinny bird!

spent hours with my girlfriend trying to find nice gear for her settled for a spidi jk tek in the end it is out there just not as much as the blokes Thumbs Up
