I was thinking the same. I was hoping for a long shot, like someone who had done the same thing.

I suppose i could just get the parts and do a bit of work and make them fit.

i dare say even R1/R6/thundercat etc parts might fit.

your biggest problems will be the head bearing area and swingarm/shock linkage bit.

good luck with it Thumbs Up

Sounds like you'll be spending a fair bit of money and quite a bit of time.
For all that, could probably just get a sorted track bike.

A bit of work can easily turn into a lot of work if the parts don't fit straight in.

For your forks if you want to put on a set of USDs your yokes are going to be much too small to machine them out to fit. You will need the bottom yoke of the new forks, might need the steering stem replaced and possibly a custom made top yoke.

Where would the fun be if everything fit easily?

I would rather improve this bike than get another one as its bit by bit cost instead of a single large pay out.

i have been quoted £95 from a breakers for a 90 exup 1000 for rear wheel swing arm and shock, but will it be much of an improvment?

yes they can.

it may be as simple as a bearing switch

it wont improve handling much, it is stiffer, but its a little longer

the 17x5.5 wheel helps alot though.
