right, some may remember the last thread... i bought this shitter.
https://img139.imageshack.us/img139/3503/dsc004365je1.jpg

as an incomplete project bike, and bought all the bits missing (exhaust, powervalve assembly etc)

so i got the thing running pretty nicely, apart from it didnt idle unless the throttle was open slightly, so im putting that down to jetting, as with the throttle i can get it ticking over at about 800rpm.

eenyway, the fairings were a right state, dont have any pics of them before, but you get the idea by looking at the tail fairing on that above picture.

some awesome guys at work offered to spray up my panels if i sanded them down and got the stickers off, so i did. in return, he wanted a lottery ticket...

spent the following 2 weeks sanding my fairings and getting the stickers off at work for a few hours a day in my spare time

so then they were done, and sprayed up, and i got them back like this;

https://img179.imageshack.us/img179/2977/16122008177ry9.jpg

a few weeks ago, i ordered some decals for them to get them looking immaculate and stock, so heres what happened.

https://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2756/16122008178sf8.jpg

https://img72.imageshack.us/img72/4733/16122008179bj5.jpg

note the relection as its so fucking shiny Wink

https://img88.imageshack.us/img88/131/16122008183td9.jpg

so yeah... full respray for the price of 5 lottery scratch cards (i was feeling generous).

Excellent Cool

Would the idle problem not be to do with the idle screw? Afterall, it only lifts the slide like you are doing with the throttle.

what about when its already all the way in, and only then will it idle VERY slowly with a bit of playing with the throttle Razz

i think the pilot jet is just too small.

Lmao. Quoted the whole post just to say cool paint.

Looking good though Matt. I had the same problem with my 50. Wouldn't idle for shit. I cleaned the carb and air filter out, cleaned the jet screw and a new spark and it definitely helped. Still didn't idle properly. It got annoying at lights holding the throttle and the clutch.

yeah, was thinking something along those lines too.
today i swapped the needle jet from a 145 to a 158, and it fired up after about 3 weeks standing OFF THE BUTTON1!!1 :O its never done that before, only worked after bumping. the battery was pretty flat too, and pretty nackered.

i hoped that would sort the idle too, but no... i was hoping the spare carb i have would have a bigger pilot jet to try, but no, both 50 Sad

moved the needle up 2 notches, and now it revs cleaner (its now 1 from the top) but it still wont idle... all thats left really is a new plug. if not, ill head off to 125ccsportsbikes.com and ask what jets im meant to have.

is your NSR restricted? and a mito would probably have a slightly bigger jet than an NSR as its a bit more highly strung.

nope its an italian model so its not restricted in any way Razz

yeah as you said mitos are tuned more so it might be that , still compresssion test it with the old finger in the hole technique to make sure its got good compression , your finger should come flying out unlesss its fat pork sasuage Laughing could also be a snapped reed , fiberglass / carbon reeds do snap quite alot Thumbs Up

compression is good, as it takes quite a bit of effort to stop it getting blown off.
as for the snapped reed, surely that would make it backfire through the carbs or something? (that thought went through my head too Very Happy) and would it even run at all with nackered reeds?

yeah it would run really spluttery and spit oil and petrol out the carb

meh , best check the jetting first i suppose , i dont see why there would be a smaller pilot jet in the carb though

my logic was that it might have been restricted? but seeing as i have 2 carbs, and only one jet being different between the 2, that says to me that my bike was derestricted in every way apart from the jetting, and the bike the other carb came off was done properly. so you only change one jet when you derestrict?

and it doesnt tend to shoot stuff back through the carb, as my box is nice and clean. unlike some (ex's) i can think of

idle screw is right the way in and does nowt Very Happy
the PDF manual i've got just says ''adjust mixture screw until bike runs as evenly as possible'' or something along those lines... thanks cagiva... you really are specific.

at the weekend im going to try stretching the spring inside the choke mechanism, and cleaning the shit out of it in there. the plunger looks clean, but havnt done much to the seat in there.

it seems to idle ok-ish for a minute or two when it first starts, but after that it goes BBLAAARRRRR
