My FZR started out stock (see sig link for pics) but I've always prefered naked bikes. Novemberish last year I stripped the fairings off and put bars on:
https://i39.tinypic.com/2quma9e.jpg (yup, that was taken in November, sucks to not live in Plymouth Razz )
https://i41.tinypic.com/iwj52a.jpg
But it was a pretty shit effort. The headlight was cheap and nasty, the bars where a little bent, I never got round to wiring most of the digital speedo in, hoses wherent long enough so I had a single hose from my CB stretching to one caliper with the other blanked off and the tail was obviously nonsense. If it was neater I would of liked it but it was really half arsed so it ended up going back to stock after a couple of weeks.

Anyway I decided to go down that route again and get the fairings on ebay (PM me offers if you like) This time I much prefer it. There are still plenty of rough bits but it feels a lot neater. And I quite like the accidental monochrome look

https://i40.tinypic.com/205b7zo.jpg
https://i42.tinypic.com/25hirkp.jpg
(Pink genesis sticker left on for old school coolness)
but yeah, I haven't used the S word, cos I'm not that fussed what it's catagorised as, to me it's just a naked sportsbike with bars, partly to keep my top speed down, partly for the cash I'll get from selling the fairings and partly cos the bars give a more aggressive riding position, with less weight over the front wheel, which is nice for being a hooligan (but not so nice for my licence)

Anyway, opinions? I'm poor for the foreseeable future, so for now I'll just be tidying the wiring and adjusting the bar furnature/ dremelling off the scuffs from the spill the other day, but in a bit I should hopefully be working and have income to burn on it. I cant decide what I want for the back end. It's a big empty white space, I quite like the idea of big yam logos in grey/silver, sort of off centre and spilling off the edge. Any other ideas?

Liking that lots Thumbs Up

With a few of the rough edges tidied up that'll look well smart I'd say, certainly a better (and probably safer!) job than last time eh Wink

Some sportsbikes look a bit poo with the fairings ripped off, but that looks like it should be like that.

Now that the horrid 'Streetfighter' fad is over (with the accompanied simpson bandit lids, anodised tat and stupid ridiculous angled 916 seat units), naked is the new fully faired!

It's an acewell, think the model is 2803. The tacho rather neatly climbs round the outside of the gauge. Haven't got a magnet for the speedo yet, but when that arrives I'll probably do a review, neat bit of kit, think mine cost me 80 or 40 a few months back, it was half price anyway.

Cheers for comments, I had the "make it look like a factory bike" mantra going through my head most of the time, cos my instincts usually make me go the opposite way and do silly things (see the first incarnation for proof heh)

Ossy, you can see her clothes scrunched up in the corner on the last pic, after they where ripped off in a fit of passion.

Might get the gf to DSLR some better pics tommorow (which'll probably show up all the crappy bits my phone came didn't pic up Razz )

Just admit it already, you binned it, stop trying to cover up your reasons for nakeding it.

What colour is the tank I can't work it out, looks good though.
Needs more pink, and tassels re attaching

What have you done with your delvcevic can, give you 50 quid for it.

Pfft I didn't bin it, you can see the intact fairings in one of the pictures. Tank is the same white as the plastics and bare polished metal (well it's not quite an exact colour match)

Tassels wont go on, renthals don't have holes in Sad and fuck off fifty quid for the delkevic, it's spare ATM cos the CB can fitted the scheme better. Went back to stock can today, to see if thats why it runs shit.

Oh actually I did bin it, but it was after the change. Slid it 15m down the road from 40 odd, fuckall damage done Razz

Yeah, I've heard of that from a few places. Not put off though as they seem perfectly happy to swap with no fuss.

Found some lanes and had a nice cruise stopped twice to remove my helmet and then later to put it back on, and since I was stopped in a picturesque place I took a couple phone pics

The first photo makes the bike look a bit like a chopper - and the headlight is pointing at the sky. Is it just how it is parked?

I see what you mean, one with big chunky forks and bodywork. Headlight angle is a combination of being parked on a hill, me crouching to take the photo and the aim being a little bit high. It was a lot more angled before but I dremeled the headlight bowl to accomodate the ignition barrel and it sits a lot more level now. Will do it a little more when I paint it.

(Plan is to paint some of the random black bits of plastic, indi backs etc in the same pearlescant white on the bodywork.)

oh and 'skipper I undressed and refaired my bike in the time it took you to finish the slabby Razz
