Fuel gauge wont work

I bought a 2007 yamaha aerox and when i turn the ignition on it only moves a very small bit , i looked in the fuel tank and i think there is alot more fuel in it

Might be a dodgy sender unit.
Not giving you the correct fuel reading.

i filled it up with petrol . The fuel gauge is telling me it is empty i toke the the fuel sensor out and turned it up side down then the fuel gauge goes up and tells me its full . Is the fuel sensor broken.

i would think so...

it will only be a piece of sponge floating up and down a small plastic pipe ( i think)

Swap the 2 wires coming out of the sensor around?

They tend to wear out, nothing much you can do except replace the sender.

Bit of a bodge, but can't you put it back in upside down if it works that way..? Maybe it was put back in the wrong way before...?

What kind of fuel sensor is it? Has it got a float with an arm? If so, try putting the float into a container of fuel and see if it floats properly. I had a problem with a fuel sender recently; I tried it in a bowl of water and it floated ok but wouldn't float in fuel.

I have the same problem --- please can someone tell me where I find the sensor so that I can test it out or replace it?
