I have a meta 351a alarm and imobiliser. My key fob seems to have died and i only have the one.

Obviously this means i cannot now start the bike. Is there anyway i can disable the system so i can get to work, or would a bike shop be able to sort me out with a new fob? Sad

change the battery in the fob.
they have watch hearing aid type cells in them and you can get them at any auto spares shop boots chemists etc

also try holding the fob under your chin and pressing the button it works when the battery is very low (seriously) Thumbs Up

Doh, circuit board corroded and I don't have the alarm code for a new fob to be reprogrammed. The whole system is going to have to be removed. Quoted £90.

I ended up getting my alarm system removed, that cost me about £90 but took the guy about 4 hours to do, good job he quoted for the work first. Laughing

I found the 16 digit number, but aparently there is a 5 digit master overide code that both the previous owner and myself do not have.

My alarm is the Meta M351a

To remove it, is it not just a case of taking it all out?

It depends on how well it's been fitted. I've removed about 30 alarms, some were extremely well fitted (and a pig to remove as a result) and some were awful and took about two minutes to remove.

If you're going to do it yourself, follow the black leads from the alarm unit, four will go to the indicators, two will probably be spliced into the CDI wiring and two will be the power supply (often to the battery terminals). There may also be two to the starter relay, depending on the model of alarm. Remove all of these, re solder the cut CDI wiring and Bob's your uncle.

Cheers

Grim

I would get a mechanic to remove it, I did and glad I did. The amount he took out was like a full loom of wire. The thing was connected all over the place and needed an almost full bike strip down. The sort of job that if you miss one thing the whole bike could be buggered. Best to be safe and get the garage to do it, in that way if anything goes wrong, they will have all the stuff there to puy it right.
