Sorry to post a common question but have looked through the forum and found no answers...
I have a Honda XR 125 and have recently replaced the standard indicators with 4 LED indicators. I have fitted a generic 3 pin LED relay (Not sure if I need the 3 pin, but there are 3 wires). I have tried disconnecting the dashboard light, but still doesn't work properly any ideas?

What do you mean by 'doesn't work properly' ... do you mean the indicators don't work at all or flashing too fast/too slow, or something else entierly?

Yes they do light up but they don't flash they just stay on. I have had all of them flashing at the correct speed but all were flashing like hazards on a car, I then removed the dash bulb and each side worked without flashing, replaced the dash bulb and they all just stayed on with no flashing

You can't have looked that hard, there's plenty of threads on here about this Smile

The flasher relay you have uses the electrical resistance of the indicators as part of it's timing circuit. LED bulbs essentially have zero resistance so that all goes to pot.

You need to either fit additional resistors into the wiring or buy a flasher relay which is designed to drive the LEDs (look on ebay for cheap ones)

Thanks for the reply. I have looked on the forum and found plenty of the threads and tried some of the common solutions. I have already got a relay designed for LED indicators however they are still not functioning correctly, because they used to flash like hazards and no longer do so (even though everything is wired as before) I'm thinking I have possibly broke my new relay? Thumbs Down Anyone know how I can check this?

I had this problem when I changed my Indicators over after a slide. When I indicated left it worked fine, When I indicated right It all went to hell and just stayed on.

Turns out electrics don't appreciate being put together with sellotape. Just rewired it better and it worked fine.

Cheers for the reply. I'm changing the indicators to mine due to a minor spill as well. I will double check all the connections, although I haven't used sellotape lol

Haha it's all I had to hand at the time and I had to use the bike so didn't really have much choice. It works though and if it isn't broke don't fix it lol.

Just to say that I have now returned the LED flasher relay and popped in four 21 Watt resistors (as suggested by finpos) which I got from Hein Gericke this works brilliant and saves faffing about with relays, cheers for your help everyone Very Happy
