need a new battery for my diversion as the old one is completely knackered.
how bad are the cheaper batteries compared to the more expensive ones like. need something that is quite strong as the divvy is a pain in the arse to start after the carbs have been taken out due to the stupid vacuum fuel pump thing.
as always a bit tight on cash being a uni student wondering if something like a numax or pattern battery for £25 or something like yuasa or nitro for like £35.

If you need the extra cranking amps, Go for a yuasa... but otherwise, there's not really too much difference...

Yuasa ain't bad, I had one in my NTV I killed it multiple times and it would bounce back, Bosch do an almost identical one for £35 too I used in my CBR which has been flattened once and bounced back.

Essentially just consider how long you will keep the bike for, a very long time then an oddessy battery might be for you.

If you want to dispose of it in a year or two then get a cheaper one.

Of cours eyou can always do the shady trick that people sell bikes to me do, i.e. start the bike on a good battery, then let it warm up and run, Then change it over to a bad battery that barely holds a charge then fire the bike up so that it looks as if it is kosher.

I hate that though.

The price difference between Yuasa (which is mostly OEM fitted as standard) and patterns is not much.

ebay and MSDbattery.co.uk liost good prices.

I have cheap batteries (patterns) that were just not as good as the leading brand. There ok but die after one winter/year!

I have had a Yuasa for 2 years now and still going strong!

I'd go with Yuasa, cheaper in the long run.

I've generally bought Varta and been happy. Cheap but of good quality.

Be wary of "High Sincerity Battery Co." and other very low quality knock offs.

Yup.

More to the point though, they are good batteries that can be had rather cheaply on eBay Smile

I always get Yuasa or Varta but still usually end up replacing them every year because I let them get drained by the alarm and don't recharge them in time.

Finally bought an Optimate to save myself the £40/£50 per year.
