Noticed yesterday that my Spring Preload was not set the same on the left and right bar, nearly 1 full mark out (left was on 6 and right was on 5).

I set them both to the manufacturers default of 6 marks from the top.

I then thought if that's not set evenly then what else isn't Confused

Thought I'd set the rebound damping to default settings of 7 clicks out, I turned them both fully in and counted 3 or 4 clicks, can't remember now.

Turned them out 7 clicks each to set to default.

My question is, these settings are for a 68kg rider, now I'm around 83kg. Can anyone suggest what would be best, harder or softer preload, quicker or slower rebound, to cater for the extra weight?

You would normally adjust everything slightly harder and quicker. (though more preload doesnt really affect the spring rate, you would have to uprate springs for that) Generally adjust rebound and compression (if you have comp adjustment) equally. The only real way to tell is to ride it and make adjusments to suit. However, if its fine at factory settings then leave it as is. You only need to adjust settings if your having a problem (understeer, oversteer, unstable, harsh ride, wallowy ride etc.) If it aint broke dont fix it Thumbs Up

I havn't touched the compression damping settings, I would of left it all well alone but as the preload wasn't set equally I chose to set to default.

Admittedly the bike handles differently in that the front end (this is where the chages were made) feels alot floatier.
It doesn't feel as if it turns in as quick.

I played about with the rebound damping yesterday, 6 clicks out felt more planted and gave more feedback from the road surface, 5 clicks out was again very planted but alot harsher. Now the pre-messed settings were around 4 or 5 clicks out but 5 out didn't feel the same as it did before.

I may leave as it is for this week and see how I get on just thought it would be good to get an idea of what I should be doing to compensate for the extra weight, I may turn it in one click if I can't get used to it.

It is a case of trial and error really. As a starting point you could do worse than set everything to standard then turn your rebound/compression in a click or two and wind your preload down a turn or two. Go from there. Keep track of what affect each adjusment after that has on your handling/ride.
I personally have my compression and rebound wound quite far in (just a few clicks from max) and my Preload is about a turn and a half in from standard. (i think - *goes to check)
I find this suits my riding, i prefer sharp handling/planted over plush/comfort. (generally - it pays dividends when your hooning but can become irritating when you just want a relaxing ride)

You're an average weight so just set the suspension settings to the defaults from the user manual. Thumbs Up

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
