Apparently they are rated for 300kg each, and there will be four of them. The bolts are rated for 200kg of tension each, and there will be 8 of them. If needs be the carriers can be welded down, reinforced or even the bigger kind can be stuck on, but I reckon they'll be more than enough*.

* I have no real basis for thinking this other than un-dieing optimism.

The main reason the axle sits on the chassis and not the other way around is to keep ground clearance as low as possible. We were aiming for under an inch and that's the position the axle needs to be in to get that. The downpipes wouldn't have been a problem if we had mounted it below as they sit perfectly in line with the bottom of the chassis, if anything it would have been easier - but hey, it's a kart and it needs to sit extremely close to the ground for that 'ooooh shit' feeling Laughing

Fair enough, optimism keeps so many of my vehicles on the road so why won't it on your kart. Very Happy

Either way I still want a go - I'll let you have a go on my mini moto if you let me have a go on your cart. Laughing
