You better hope the brace doesn't let the battery slip back so it touches that nice long metal bar going across the top Laughing

You would not believe how close I came to doing just that when fitting it... rest this bit on there, slide that bit there, whoah jesus christ this thing is made of metal! That was close Shocked

I think a powder coating is in order for that bit Laughing

Just get a nice bit of rubber mat to wrap the battery in that has enough to make a flap to fit under the brace.

If that makes sence - bit of padding for the battery in the box then as well.

Interesting way of setting up the brakes, but I can't see it not working or any problems with it - sort of blows in the face of a brake on each wheel.

I assume the petrol tank will be going on the left hand side? I also assume your going to need a electric fuel pump to get the fuel up to the carbs?

Looking good though - still wanting a go if I ain't killed myself on my mini moto. Very Happy

It was just easier this way. There's no diff on the rear axle so it won't make a difference but having the calipers together saved a lot of brake house routing. Plus the space on that side was pretty much ideal.

The ZXR has a fuel pump as standard so we've just used that. It has no trouble working against graivty, we tested it when running the thing last week. Still unsure on the fuel tank location but most probably the left hand side, depends how much space the electrical system takes up really. I'm really not looking forward to doing the wiring so been trying to put it off as long as possible Razz

hows this thing going to handle if it doesnt have a diff?

surely the wheelbase will be too big to handle well with that much power behind the wheels Question

i know its meant to be a go kart but its going to handle like a go kart as well, which may seem silly but when its as powerfull/big and heavy as it is, surely it wont handle too good?

Please correct me Razz as I'm not sure what I'm on about I am just blagging it Laughing

Karts take corners in a semi-permanent powerslide, this will do the same. Bad news for tyres, but fecking quick. The rear axle is a standard kart width and the wheelbase won't be far off a normal kart either.

To be honest until somebody's tried it out we have no idea how it'll handle Very Happy

I can sooooo see that thing flipping over. You'll most probably have to end up putting weight at the front of the kart to keep it down. Confused

And I would like to be there when you start testing it. Very Happy

Me and kornel had that discussion last week, they will probably need to put weights at the front to balance the weight otherwise they might end up doing non stop wheelies, although thats probably what theyre aiming for Wink

Idea

Could also add those things on proper drag bikes and dragsters that stick out from behind, designed to stop the thing from flipping back over.

Hi

Depending on what they do to make up for the reduction in the size of the rear wheel, the gearing could land up being VERY low. Could well be a tad prone to lifting the front wheels.

All the best

I've left all the gearing theories to Korn, but he has had the old Excel spreadsheets out doing some maths and landed up using a gearing with a top speed of around 100mph. But, this is adjustable from the stack of sprockets to anything between 87 and 130 odd I believe.

Hi

Should be fun. Remember that it is a nightmare changing the gearing on an axle unless the sprockets are split.

By the way, are you running a fuel pump? Alot of karts use fuel pumps driven by a rubber band from the back axle. If you are doing this then it is worth putting a couple of spare drive bands in place but taped up out of the way.

All the best

Keith
