Start my gsxr 600 up today and noticed water dripping from the bottom of the end can were it meets the connector pipe. there is also water around the end tip of the exhaust. The bike has not been rode in a month but has been started weekly. Is this normal? there is also a few splatters of oil coming from the tip of the exhaust, i notiched them on a wall behind the bike. Thanks guys

water naturally collects in the exhaust from condensation. most pipes have a tiny hole at the bottom of the can where it will drain out.

in terms of the 'oil'. i expect its where a bit of condensation has sat in the exhaust and turned black from the carbon.

as long as water isnt gushing out all sounds normal. take it for a spin, let it all get up to temp and it will be gone Thumbs Up

Water is H2O
Two molecules of hydrogen
One molecule of Oxygen.

Petrol is a Hydrocarbon. A compound of the elements Hydrogen and Carbon.

When you burn a Hydrocarbon compound not all of the hydrogen is burned but some of it combines with the oxygen in the air pushed into the engine by atmospheric pressure.

This produces H2O Water.

The water is always produced during combustion of the fuel in an engine.

What you get on start-up is this water condensing on the cold parts of the exhaust to form droplets.
This is what you see running out the exhaust of bikes, cars and trucks.

After the exhaust warms up, due to hot gasses passing through it, the water doesn't condense any more but comes out as part of the exhaust emitted by the vehicle.

The bad chemicals go on to poison babies and kittens but the water part (Steam/Vapour) floats up really high into the sky to make lovely fluffy clouds....

Which reminds me, what bikes have a catalytic converter nowadays?
