I wish this was the case Laughing

Bike sat on the drive for 3 days with half a tank. Turned the ignition on, still half tank. 50 miles journey and the tank is empty Crying or Very sad
I am getting a consistent 35mpg.
I think I'll take it to a garage.

have you replaced the lambda sensor?

No, I just unplugged it. Didn't make any difference.

More updates;

The problem occurred again so I unplugged the oxygen sensor. Went for a 40 mile ride (30-50-70mph roads). Voila! Back to 70mpg.

Confused

Yeah, I know it doesn't make sense Laughing

After that 40 miles ride it got back to 35mpg.

whats your plug like?

could be that the coolant temp sensor is knackered, and its stuck on a rich warm up map.

It's a 4 pin plug.

I am off to maplins to get an analogue multimeter. I better check every single sensor.

i meant sparkplug Laughing

if its stuck on a warm up map, your probably find its really sooty.

what are the wire colours on the lambda sensor?

Lucky I didn't started to talk about butt plugs Laughing

I'll check the plug now.
I don't know the colours on the lambda sensor. black and red I guess Very Happy

Got the multimeter. Now it's time to get dirty (physically)

I checked;

Intake Air Pressure sensor
Throttle Position sensor
Engine Coolant Temperature sensor
Intake Air Temperature sensor
HO2 sensor
Idle Air Control valve circuit
Fuel injector circuit

Everything is within specs.

Fuel injector circuit resistance should be around 10-18 ohms at 20 degrees Celsius says the workshop manual. Mine was 9ohms but it was 12 degrees today. So I assume it is okay as well.

I had an issue with measuring the "injector continuity". I don't know how to do that. Embarassed
This is what it looks like.

I am doing this test with an analogue multimeter. So I think the needle shouldn't move at all while testing the circuit. Any movement means there is a short circuit. Am I right?
