I am looking to get my GSXR1100 back on the road after being stood for a while.
Does anyone know of a reliable bike mechanic?
I am situated on South Yorks / Notts / Lincs border but don't mind travelling a bit for the right service.

Do you live anywhere near Keighley perchance?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

You're around Doncaster then? RTT Moto in Barnsley are good, although I haven't used them for servicing in years because I do it all myself now.

How long has it been stood and what does it need doing?

There's a few trained mechanics and a load of very good "amateur" ones on OSS, all Suzuki diehards. Join up and ask on there for someone locallish or get the bug and do it yourself always someone willing to help with any problems.

Keighley is about 70 mlies, see if anyone nearer first Thank....

Whitedevil,
Been doing own spanners for over 47 yrs, getting too old to grovel on the floor these days and just moved house with less garage space. Thanks........

MarkJ,
Thanks.........

Been stood about 5 yr,
Put new battery on, it runs on 3 pots and fuel leaking from somewhere lower down, only leaks when engine running, when vacuum tap operates
Previuosly I swapped the coils with HT leads and still not firing on same cylinder 2nd on right
Took tank off, pipes conected OK and dry on top of carbs,
Looks like need a tool to change oil filter?
Had all brakes stripped and freed off

You're lucky it's only one cylinder after 5 years standing Very Happy , you might get away with being able to clean the carbs/ blow the jets out yourself or it may be an ultrasonic cleaning job if it's it's the internal passages clogged with varnish. Should be able to sort the leaking float valves at the same time to cure the petrol leak. At least you know the petrol tap is OK if it only leaks when running Mr. Green
Always easier to use an oil filter socket from left side due to clearance on the oil boilers.

All I have to say on the subject is REDCAR SUZUKI!

There is nothing they can't source and they really know their stuff. Check them out, I even travelled 150 miles just to buy a bike from them coz I know they are that good!
