Looks like the last steel frame was made in 1998.

Brill, so anything with the fairings where it looks like they clip over the frame like the 98 one are steel framed? So I know what I'm looking for for a track bike Smile

Cheers Smile Thumbs Up

might be easier to look at the back end, if it has boxy steel swingarm and multiple spokes it is a steelie, aluminium swingarm with a tapered end and 3 spoke alloys and it is a 99+.

I can't decide, is that a steel framed bike? Confused Neutral

its an FL so of course it is.

the CBR run started in 87.

stayed steel frame until 98. in 99 they changed to alloy but still used carbs until the 01 models when they changed to injection.

i use a 97/98 steelie trackbike. damn good things. cheap, reliable, solid in a crash.

Bit earlier than that for the 600. They were on sale in 1987 when I first got a bike.

All the best

i have a steel frame cbr600f 97 model track bike i'm looking at selling off soon.
blue track fairings plus 2 spare sets of front ones and a tank, 2 spare engines that need rebuilding (one just needs new head gasket). fair few spare odds n sods.
decent enough tyres (dunlop qualifiers) and a shitty rear paddock stand.
£800 to take it away.

i like it but the engine lacks get up and go so going to be tracking my gsxr

edit- uprated to full brembo system up front, delightful brakes with no hint of fade.
edit 2- currently has an akra system on it and has a spare full yoshi system

im rather happy with my brakes on the old girl Smile

SBS pads, braided lines and an sp-1 MC. luverly!

i have to say the newer machinery does get away from me a bit at times but a -1 front +2 rear sprocket change has helped me out in that department. love the thing though Smile

So it would still be acceptable in the steel framed race series?

Just so I know what is available Thumbs Up

id not bother with it though. non floating discs, mechanical speedo.. not good.

much better off with a 95-98 model. brakes are far superior, better choice in tyres (its a 120/60 standard but you can stick a more common 120/70 on there no problems, and it'll improve turn-in as well.). better engine too.
