Quick thread jack

Can anyone recommend some thin waterproof and warmish gloves? I know its a bit much to ask, but I can't stand riding in bulky gloves!

Alpinestars tech road have the warmth for autumn and very early spring. I've overworn mine so it doesn't hold out when its torrential - seams are getting a bit frayed, but then again I have used it for about 20k miles in the wet!

Astars 365s are the thinest goretex gloves going and are much more water resistant than my old style tech roads ever where, my only criticism is that the liner isn't fixed in particularly well and comes loose rather easily. My pair lasted less than a year before I had to send them back whereas my old tech roads are still going strong at 4+ years old.

The new replacement tech roads are more of a winter glove though, pretty much a leather version of the jet road with a big thick lining, very comfy but not remotely thin.

My personal recommendation is a pair of the Gericke sport xtrafit leather gloves, pretty much the same xtrafit construction and great waterproofing as the 365 but not quite as thin and with a shorter cuff, most critically they seem to have done a much better job of fixing the liner in place. Oh and they are 50 quid cheaper too Smile

Copied this from another thread but its my words.

J&S £50.

As for bulkiness with gloves, my gloves are fab!

Yes they are IXS (cheapo brand) but they are between summer and winter gloves thickness, fully waterproof, hard protected knuckle and don't look to bad either. They have two straps on them, one to keep them in place and one to keep the wrist section watertight. Perfect gloves! Just hope they survive crashes well. Think mother bought them for £45 and unless my hands sweat ridiculously, I will be wearing them through summer.

They are called IXS Bristol for those interested. Haven't crashed in them but the leather does seem soft. Almost like chamois leather. Would highly recommend and if I do ever happen to have a crash with them on and they dont rip or anything, then I will keep buying them until they are discontinued. Fabulous! The bloke said they are their best selling gloves.

And a video on this page.

I second rac3r on the RST Tractech gloves. Had them out in all weathers never had a problem. Comfy good level of protection and most importantly in this weather, waterproof.

Went to a shop to try a set of the Motopilot/Tracktech gloves on and found that even the XXL (size 12) were a tad small in the finger department
(seemed narrow and short)
Was pretty gutted as I had my heart set on a pair as they are a good price and look like they would survive OK in an off

Worth trying a pair on before parting with money (or at least finding out what the returns policy is)

I opted for the less racey RST Rift's (with a more relaxed fit according to the shop) they are still a tad short for finger length despite being XXL's but at least they didn't cut the blood flow to my thumb when making a fist shape!

Still mildly annoying that they put pressure on my fingertips..but I /had/ to come away with something from the shop as the gloves I had were coming away at the seams and only fit for the bin Sad

Regards
Rob

I received a pair in the post just a few hours ago. I'm really happy with the build quality. The only niggle I have, the opposite to what you're having, they are slightly too long in the fingers and thumb, however perfect fit in the hand area. I think a size down and they would be too tight. Either way, I love the gloves. They look far more expensive than what they actually were.

I think they are great for £20 (£25 delivered) they feel and perform like ones 2 or 3 times the price Smile

How do you get them at trade price? I'm going to buy either the RST Razor textile jacket or the RST Raptor textile jacket within the next week.
