Been looking at the calipers on this bike and thought they would be better suited to the trackbike. The stock brakes are much more in keeping with the race rep scheme.

So I pulled the old ones out and took the billet ones off.

Pushed the pistons out as far as they could go and cleaned them up, cleaned up all the pins and anti-rattle springs and the bodies.

All apart

The Bike is due the MOT and a general service too, so that'll all be happening soon ready for the summer.

Got the standard brakes back on the bike and all working this morning.
Need to give the bike a good run and bed it all in.

Why yes, yes it does. Thanks for pointing that out Rolling Eyes Wink .

Very nearly stripped them completely but decided against it as I need to have at least one bike on the road for the May day run.

So this weekend she got a general service and check over.
Oil, filter, air filter and plugs. Run up to temperature no problem.
Still a few things to check and lube up but I'll run through the rest of the service sheet before the MOT.

Cheers. I have other threads on vfr's (links in my sig)

Yep original panels are getting a lot harder to find. There are various suppliers on the bay of Chinese copy sets. Cheap but not amazing quality, you get what you pay for.

If you have any questions on the v4's feel free to pm me.
Www.400greybike.com is also a good enthusiast site.

With the service and check over complete I found out that the brakes were binding quite badly, so off came the calipers again but for a complete strip down this time and new seals were ordered. Should have just done this to start with.

Wanted to get more pictures as I was doing the job but I was rather pushed for time.

Left (with new seals, copper slip and red rubber grease)

Right with old and new seals
https://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr119/Timon1983/Honda%20Britain%20VFR/null_zpsc505f2f1.jpg

Thought it be silly not to put new lines on seeing as I had to take it all apart.

All done and on the bike

Just made my slot in time, thats the kind of MOT I like

Did a bit of work on the bike today.
The Yamamoto half system has a couple of small cracks that need welding up, so off it came to be fixed later.

Got a good standard system off my brother with rusted/busted lower collars. Welded some new stainless ones on and got the whole lot (including the front pipes) polished. With some new gaskets I got it fitted.

I may or may not sell this bike once my other one is finished so the standard system will stay on it.
