Hey all...

My bike has been stationary for a few days due to rain and whatnot.
So today is dry and i decided to take off the cover and get it out for a ride.

I noticed that there was what appeared to be water coming from under the exhaust... so i took a look.

Right at the bottom of the can were the exhaust welds onto the pipe there's a small hole which i had never noticed before, and that was were the water was coming from.
When revving the bike it seemed to spray even more which concerned me 5 mins later... so i rang my local Honda dealer (as the engine and exhaust are 125 Chinese Honda copies) and they told me that it's perfectly normal for "moisture" to spray out that hole.

How come i have never noticed this before?
does this happen more when the weather is much cooler?

Yeah, this time of year is perfect for it. You put the bike away hot and the ambient temperature starts to drop quickly as the sun goes down but the humidity levels are still quite high. The moisture condenses onto the cooling metal and, hey presto, you fill your exhaust with water.

I would never had known this.
Just comes to show that even 6 months after owning a bike you still don't know everything about it Rolling Eyes

On a related note, I had a similar concern with the old GPZ. The hole presumably got blocked with soot (or rust?) from the exhaust, trapping an amount of water inside the end can under certain conditions...
...occasionally resulting in a growing plume of steam once the engine and exhaust warmed up and boiled the water off Shocked

So keeping that drain hole clear is recommended Thumbs Up
