Watching with interest : I'm just about to start my restoration - first bike I ever owned ; a 1977 model (blue) and my 19 year-old son has just rebuilt it dfrom bits stored in boxes for 20 years+. Now I'm after a replacement rear mudguard - I think you might have bought the one I was after on E Bay!! Never mind - glad it's gone to a good home.
Thanks for the great photos - it's inspired me to crack on with mine.

Good luck with the restoration, I have two rear mudguards left over, the one I was going to use is in a repairable condition, the wiring guide channels need repairing (they are mostly intact, and I was going to use some zinc mesh and FG, the top surface of the guard is also fixable with some filler and it would be ok), let me know if you want it, but damn heavy. unless your local ?
(cambs/beds/herts area) otherwise if you want it get a price for courier from myhermes.co.uk (very cheap courier), so you can have the guard for the cost of carrige.

As I stated, I was less than happy with the finish of the rear mudguard, some how I ended up with some small paint runs, so I rubbed it down and re-shot another coat over the top, now it shines like a new penny with a real deep luster.

Been messing about with the side panels (Glass Fibre), one has some nasty cracks.

https://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll431/grahamdrry/CD175/IMAG1153_zpsce842696.jpg

https://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll431/grahamdrry/CD175/IMAG1156_zps06f4ba90.jpg

I cleaned around the area (inside and out) and cut some mesh to fit

https://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll431/grahamdrry/CD175/IMAG1157_zps54239442.jpg

Then pushed JB Weld into the mesh

https://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll431/grahamdrry/CD175/IMAG1158_zps340602e7.jpg

And into the crack on the outside

https://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll431/grahamdrry/CD175/IMAG1159_zps7187445c.jpg

Now ready to rub down and prime
