so, i aquired this 95 plate cg for not much money. it came with 2 200cc dayang engines. (is the name based on what an american importer said when he saw the bikes?)

i've had many positive comments so far, ranging from 'whats that heap of crap sitting on my drive' all the way to 'so what have you been wasting your money on now'

it arrived in a condition similar to a moss-bike™ (those of you who don't know what that is... should be glad)

the engine in the bike had no clutch and the centrifugal strainer had exploded.

tonight i've stripped bits off the spare and built a good motor (hopefully lol) it spins over and sparks, although it appears the wiring was done by moss-electric-solutions™

i've got no idea what im going to do with it, just want to get it running and mot'd for now.

some pics:

on a paddock stand so i could take off the pegs to fit the clutch cover

removed all wiring, it fires up but needs an oil leak sorting. need to do some cutting and adding on the frame to make a battery tray ect..

going to keep the new loom to an absolute minimum, no indis, idiot lights ect.

the exhaust on this is 35mm od. handily all the tubing ive ordered for the external wg on the bandit is also 35mm, should have enough left to do the piping on this.

if anyones got a gear lever for a cg or one of these chinky things, it would be useful.

Mr Chri5, Do tell : you`ve shortened the exhaust.
How has that affected tick-over and rev-range, and back pressure, ect ect.

The reason being is I`ve always fancied shortening the exhaust on my own CG of lovelyness.

hi the exhaust isnt a shortened stock pipe its an dayang down pipe welded to a shorty

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120755623809

idle mixture screw may need tweaking, shouldent need to upjet main jet, revs cleaner and higher

dunno, the exhaust is a piece of wank, its going in the scrap as soon as i've done the pipework for the turbo. in the pics its just wedged in so i could test fire the engine without my ears hurting.

i imagine sod all difference though, cg motors are about as simple as it comes for 4t they wern't designed from a performance perspective.

Don't add a K&N filter and open pipe or this will happen

I thought you had some kind of Brooklands 'fish-tail' exhaust outlet on there for a while... till I realised its the cup for your paddock stand!

Think a brooklands would look quite good on it, though.....

Looks like a pretty good base for a cafe racer type effort. Jamie Stokes used to have a really nice CG cafe racer, I almost bought it off him but I couldn't scrape the £200 or whatever tiny amount it was he was asking for together at the time Crying or Very sad

Also made a battery / electrics tray today, most stuff will be hidden under the seat hump, need to find the smallest battery i can that will crank the starter.

Tomorrow will be finish flatting off all tins and make a new loom.
