I was in the Newcastle shop today and all what I consider to be the good stuff has already gone, only oddball sizes left.

I don't think it's much of a sale, I think most of what they offer is overpriced anyway. 25% off the label price, and the items are sitting their at their original max prices. Whereas you'd usually see rotating sales on various items, so they're not any cheaper than they would be normally only now there's much less selection and nothing fits.

Personally, I won't miss them.

I'd be a bit worried about the staff having resorted to cannibalism by now though.

There's little of any value in HG on anyway even before the administration.

They'd become the Halfords of the bike world, but with even less choice.

My local place always had a pretty decent range of stuff. Only issue is that it was all mid ~ high end stuff, so all pricey.

My local one is 43% owned by oxford products, that probably explains why they didn't stock anything decent.

Just fully of HJC helmets etc..

You'd struggle to buy a fuel filter from them.

In the winter they only stocked the summer scottoil.

I've lived a stone's throw from one for years. Hardly ever bought anything in there although I do pop in for a nose occasionally.

Normally I tend to think I could just get stuff cheaper secondhand off ebay.

Thought that I might aswell get some stuff now its going though. Got a mesh jacket and a summer jacket today. I might also get a 3 quarter length winter jacket to replace my £40 aldi job.

None look as nice as my triumph jacket, but its getting a bit old and smells when it's damp. Guess I should wash it and re-waterproof it.

It would seem HG UK has been bought by the Germans.
Not sure what it will mean for the UK side though.

Work will set them free.

I can't think what a bought-out HG chain would do differently. Today's Dilbert:

I went in to the Peterborough store and there wasn't much left really. Some of their own brand jackets which were still too expensive, some tools/materials which are cheaper at halfords/ uniparts. Dozens of helmets!

I went in there for a security lock/chain for my new trailer, but despite the 30% on security, I still wasn't paying £100 for a thick chain. It's half what the trailer cost! Thumbs Down

Might pop in tomorrow and see if I can get some gloves, not sure if I've left it too late though!

Aww yeah Very Happy

Went in today, all the gloves I was interested in they only had left in size "small". Excellent, I wear small gloves.

Got myself a pair of black Alpinestars SP-1 gloves RRP £114.99.
-£46 with 40% discount.
-£37.17 with points off my card, didn't realise I had that many on there.

So all in I paid £31.82 for them! Bargain Cool

Also, staff told me that the business has been sold to the german HG owners. Shops will be staying open and staff keeping jobs Smile

Excellent. HG is the only bike clothing shop I've found so far near my university area.

Which will be good as I couldn't find the right size trousers in this one.

Went into Darlington shop on Thursday. Helmets reduced to 300 quid.. Was some cheaper ones but I've always considered them over priced. Newcastle shop seemed to have a better selection but I've been there for months!

I was in the Darlington store yesterday. If you're needing any leathers, get yourself there. 50% off all leathers. Dainese jackets for £150. And they had decent sizes left. Thumbs Up
