How many out there have a second bike?

Thinking of getting a er6n to compliment the gixxer 750.

Not sure whether it's a good choice or how to get it passed the misses! Any ideas?

I have two. Did have three, not so long ago. If you want to see a proper selection, Kickstart is the guy to talk to.

How sympathetic is the Mrs to the idea of bikes in general?

I have 3 - big cruiser for touring, smaller cruiser for sunny summer riding and a zephyr for winter/commuting/general. Am still kind of hankering after something small, light and fast to play out on though, the big heavy tourer might have to go........ Embarassed

The OH has no problem with this, at last count I think he owns 7 although only 2 of them are currently on the road. Laughing

I think if you can afford it then why not? General consensus among people I talk to seems to be if you have a "nice" bike it's work having something a bit less valuable that you don't mind getting dirty/worn out as well. Smile

Two seemed like a great idea but now I don't need a bike for work can't always find time to ride even one.

During the snow etc, if there was a clear day found myself riding one then getting the other out just to give it a run, almost became a chore.

Hopefully will all make sense now spring is coming Smile

I'm considering a 125 to add as a mess about. Loved taking one on the motorway, sounds almost rude Smile

I have 2 and an er6n for the commute also. It's a great little bike, the power delivery is so smooth and the bike is very comfortable.

Top speed is not great, but it's great fun for my lunch time ride on the moores.

I'm thinking of changing it for the 2012 model as I think they look great.

Got the ZX6r for showing off and sunny days.
I want to keep it in a reasonable condition so I got another bike for general "stuff".
Got a Hyosung GT250 R for running around ect.

last year I had a Sachs XTC 125 as a run-around for a while and that was fun, but it just did`nt have enough ummmph!

Whenever I have been lucky enough in life to be able to afford a decent bike, I have also tried to get a second smeg-bike so I dont ruin the good one.

I've had more than one bike to use for the last six years or so, after failing to find a bike that 'does it all'.

Currently have three 'second' bikes, although I've been meaning to sell my CB5 for some time now. I use my DRZ for everyday work (plus larking about at the weekend on) and have a Superfour for fettling. I've also got an NC30-shaped cover somewhere, although I haven't ventured to the back of the garage for some time now.

Second bikes make a lot of sense - means you can have your pride and joy constantly in perfect condition, and a dog for everyday duties whatever the weather. Sounds pretty tarty actually, but even from a rider's point of view, a little variety in the collection keeps things interesting depending on what mood you're in.

I have two but I have the urge for a third, a supermoto of some sort. I have the sports and muddy bikes covered but I want something thats going to be more of a toy/hooligan bike that I can ride whenever I fancy going for a blast whatever the weather. Im thinking maybe a DRZ400....

But then again if I do get a third bike I will probably want a fourth, then a fifth Laughing

I have my Fz6 for good weather summer riding and a Yamaha xj650 for commuting/winter riding.
It is such a breath of fresh air having an old hack to just ride and forget about keeping clean.
If i had more money i would probably have a stable full of bikes for different occasions.

I can vouch that this works (though justifying a new paint job took some effort)

I have two bike but would have many more if I could, I can honestly think of ten or fifteen bikes I'd like to have in garage Laughing

But in the real world, two is ok and maybe a third! My ER6F was new so is my best bike which I use for scratching about in the good weather and touring about with the missus on the back. It really is a do it all bike, loads of fun.

My other bike is a recently acquired ZX6R that I'm planning to use for track days and possibly weekend scratching but I'm still debating with myself whether its worth keeping on the road and all the cost that go with it.

Luckily the other half is ok with two Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

2 bikes minimum. If I had a double garage it would be more. I like a bit of room to work on them.

I used to go for a big bike and a smaller one but I always found I missed the lazy power of the bigger bike (lazy being me not the bike). Now I have a Fazer keeper and the KTM for touring/slightly mad days.

I've got a few.

What's the 'point' of the second bike?

For me, the ER6 doesn't really seem to offer much over the GSXR?

Might be a bit cheaper to run. But if I wanted that, I'd go for an older SV or GPZ500 etc to avoid the most of depreciation costs.

Me, I'd go for a different style bike - even if I wanted it as a backup, I think I'd go for a trail bike as that opens up a wide range of other possible fun dirty activities.

Hmm, I have my old learner bike as my backup. CG125..

Had it for a few years and it's never ever let me down, although sometimes it has issues with cutting out once in a blue moon.

Perfect as my gpz500 because somewhat unreliable for a couple of months constantly reverting to single cylinder.

When the time comes, the GPZ will be the backup after getting a bigger bike after restriction.. Cool

I did have ten bikes at one time, several in bits as project bikes. But now I am down to five, with the CB125T2 as the project bike which was originally meant for either of my daughters.
