Hi all,

How do I go about adjusting the above, as my ZZR600 is making a loud whine from about 40-50mph upwards.

I have checked pads, and bearings, and all fine.

Can someone give me as to amount of adjustment needed if any experience at this.

Hi

Normally a rod from the lever to the shaft on the gearbox. Slacken off any lock nuts and rotate. Rotate one way and the shaft gets longer, rotate the other way and the shaft gets shorter. This moves the lever up or down.

However I doubt that would have anything to do with the noise you mention, unless you are keeping constant pressure on the lever.

All the best

Keith

Cheers Keith,

Any ideas, why this noise is happening ? Does your Z6 have a whine ? It does sound like its from the front of the engine low down, perhaps on the left hand side but difficult to get head down there when on Motorway Shocked

I am now unsure if the noise has always been there, or if it is infact something that needs looking at ?

Many thanks

Joolz

Hi

From that description, no idea. Only real moving things at the bottom front are the crank and oil pump, and if either were having issues I would expect other symptoms rapidly.

I would suggest whipping off the sprocket cover and checking the front sprocket though.

All the best

Keith

I'll do that tomorrow, although I have just had new chain and sprockets fitted last month.

Hi

That would make me more dubious about the front sprocket. The retainers can come lose (which is ironic, as when they don't they tend to be a real nightmare to remove for a new set of sprockets).

All the best

Keith

Usually a symptom of the chain being adjusted too tightly.
