Same, like e original thread.
I like faired bikes, but will one day own a sporty naked or supermoto hooligan mobile. ____________________ Current bike: ZX6R J1

Loved my GSXR, but love my Hornet more. Next bike will probably be a 'blade.
Makes a nice change, seeing a beast of a machine sticking out. ____________________ "Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing."

Both, but don't like semi/bikini fairings too much with the exception of Buell and TL1000S that is. ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 Some Bike Pics...

Completely agree with all said here, as much as I loved my VFR I have grown so much more confident on the Hornet. I think that's because of the upright riding position though. As said I would love to have a go on the VFR now I know what I am doing, well sort of
Voted for naked, for the time being I am sticking to naked bikes, well until I can get the VFR back and running. Will most likely have a bit on sports bikes at some point, but no time soon ____________________ Bikes Past: Yamaha Aerox (sold) Yamaha R125 (written off)

I prefer naked as I think it looks better to have the engine on show rather than hide it behind plastic |

A lot of it is down to the appearance of non-aircooled engines.
I suppose earlier motorcycle engines were as good as always fully exposed so having an overall shape that looked pleasing aesthetically was at least part of the package, I always think cooling fins look rather better than bare skinny watercooled lumps with flat sides. Just little things like a nice polished set of engine cases also add to the appeal.
That and a lack of external plumbing, electrical and other pipe work.
With the majority of modern motorcycles being covered up the appearance of the motor isn't seen as being part of the design criteria as you just don't see them on a lot of machines.
I don't particularly like full fairings and acres of plastic as I think bikes start becoming too car-like when they go to those lengths, but I do appreciate a decent half fairing. An exposed engine alongside that with good access is nice too. |
